DC Vault 2

Ok, Updated the windows zip with the newest version, and it's compiled with gfortran and should work on all win x64 instead of just amd 6200's ...

The old windows ifort compile was before I figured out the proper flags to make it multi-cpu compatible..and currently my trial for Ifort on windows has expired... So it's not quite as fast as the linux version :)

Your zip file has another zip file inside of it with similar contents. Was this an accident or is their a difference between the two files?

Accidential, Looks like pasting in windows 8 if you happen to right click on a zip file will insert the contents instead of overwriting...

Okay guys, now that AT&T has fixed my internet after 4 DAYS of downtime, once I clear my current pile of Docking, I'll grabs some new POGS files and join the fun - I should be able to lower that DPC daily overtake PPD by close to a third...

Now only if brilong was less anonymous :)

NickOfTime, I'm unable to change my account from ANONYMOUS. I posted something in their forum, but have not heard back any good answers on what I'm doing wrong.

My login and display name would be the same. Is that a problem? Every time I change ANONYMOUS to brilong, it says it was successful in updating my account, but I revisit the summary and it's back to ANONYMOUS. I've tried Firefox and Chrome to eliminate browser issues. :(

Docking@Home is Retiring
April 07, 2014 17:05 EST

With a heavy heart, we are announcing the retirement of the Docking@Home project. Unfortunately, we no longer have the resources to maintain the project. Starting on April 30, 2014 Docking@Home will no longer be distributing new jobs but will continue to collect results. On May 23, 2014 the server will stop accepting results as the project enters retirement. We hope that you can use this time to point your workers to new VC projects. (here is a link to active BOINC projects).

Over the past 9 years we’ve had 98,512 Volunteers contribute computing power from 264,535 hosts. We have granted a total of 5,422,290,917 credits, which means our volunteers contributed roughly 159,398,584 Hours (18,196 years!) of computation. Back in Jan we made all of the result data public and we will keep that interface active. Thank you to everyone that made Docking@home a success over the years. It’s been fun! Please join us on the forums to share your best and worst story from the project.

Over the past few months we’ve been working on bringing the ExSciTecH project to life. We hope that you will join us in our adventure on this new project. Feel free to stop by the ExSciTecH forums and say “Hi”!.

bok told me it was still a work in progress. :D

Edit: Sorry...thought you meant Free-DC stats... Doh!

Though some of my Intel's are running fine, I have found a few devices not liking your app.

CPU's not currently liking it:
****Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5800 @ 2.00GHz [Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 13] I looked further into it and apparently this system had these errors before I put the optimized one on there. So, the issue lies elsewhere. :)

***Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2650L 0 @ 1.80GHz [Family 6 Model 45 Stepping 6] I think this one is having a different issue that just happened when I copied the files...so will do more investigating. I will have to double check the T5800 (which was a different error) to verify it is related or not. Crossing my fingers.

Running the Windows optimised POGS app now, no completed units using it yet but will update with results.
E5430 OC@3GHz, i7-2600 @stock and L5639 spicy OC@2.7GHz, for reference.

Edit: tasks from all 3 machines have validated, no errors as yet.

Hmm, Grandpa, Dookey, CaptainUnlikely, and Jathanis throwing more hardware at pogs, Me optimizing the client again...
I think put the pedal down and are experiencing turbo (validation) lag...
Oh well, Maxim 37

teamdaily1.php

Apr 10th: Oops, that turbo is way too big...

"If in doubt, flat out" :D

My pending validations are slowly mounting up now I have everything currently online doing POGS, will see what else I can scrounge up to throw at it this week. If I get time I can put an E5440 and another similar system up, I also haven't got the optimised client on my Linux L5420 box right now so that's tomorrow evening's challenge.

Hmm, looking at valided wu's, it looks like 95% of the ones that got validated quickly have a similar run time and list the owner as Grandpa... :D

Hmmm that guy needs to speed it up a little, I have a little over 22,000 waiting for validation

O wait that is me, guess that NickOfTime fella needs to release something a little faster so I can kick it up another notch. Wait that is you  I think the cows may go home if things ever catch up with the production I am currently running looks like around 6M rocks a day. and it looks like currentley running at a 1.3% failure rate but it appears to be going down for some reason.

Great work

My E5 2650L has had quite a few failed work units on POGS all with:

<core_client_version>7.3.11</core_client_version>

There isn't a lot of info for exact fixes. I am not touching the amount of space given to BOINC. I'm not out of RAM. I have not seen the system eat up all 10GB of virtual memory either. So, I am now going to try a suggestion I saw earlier of just resetting my space usage and see if maybe the client was just having a blip. I also made sure that the hard drive was not compressed to save space and the computer has been restarted to help clear up issues. Worst case scenario, I will remove CPDN from the device because I had read at Malaria Control a user had issues with CPDN years ago not cleaning up their files correctly and causing this kind of an error. The only thing making me think it isn't that is that BOINC says I'm not using more than 10GB or space and I had over 50GB available for it.

Here's my thread (probably in the wrong subforum).

My problem has been fixed and my display name is now set correctly. After having read a lot of forum posts, I've noticed GIMPS seems to be prone to many server-side issues. So far I've not had many issues using GPU72's "submit_spider" Perl script to submit my results.

Well, crap, now I'm torn - I was hoping to hit a 1M point goal before putting this one on the shelf... Now I can try for 1M points before it ends just because, or cut and run as it doesn't help the Vault after this month... Damn decisions!

Same boat here. If you do decide to shoot for 1 million, make sure to cache up a full 10 days work so that when the last bit of work goes out, you still have time. They will be accepting returned work through most of May.

Edit: Jathanis, I think I'm going to shoot for it anyways. I'm over half way there, so this will be a good challenge. ;) Might as well close that project with a bang.

I've only got two "validation inconclusive" across those systems, one has an extremely long runtime compared to the rest and both were from the same system. 604 validated and 242 pending, so that's an excellent error rate for me :)

Ok, I Removed the Ifort versions with fast math from the linux and left the gfortran with the same compile options as the project version in the linux zip. The last windows version was compiled the same as the project...

The good thing is the last optimiziation I did should actually increase the accuracy of the data, since it's more accurate to multiple a double precision number by 12000 then add it 12000 times...

Hmm, never thought I would actually create project drama (in general, vs specific instance)

Project drama, never heard of such a thing. :D

I switched back to the stock executable until we hear differently from the project lead.

Hmm , I.m getting a lot of computer freezes on my gtx690 system running gimps mfackc. I think I'll switch it back to asteroids unless someone has a better project suggestion... I'll leave my gtx660ti on gimps...

I am now working on getting the original apps for POGS switched back. I am going to let current work finish and then will focus on Docking in hopes of meeting my goal before the project ends. My hosts (most of them) have been set to No New Work to make it easier to clean them up. Hopefully by the end of the month POGS decides on what they are doing and has the optimized client working. :)

Hey Jathanis, Docking work units are now in high demand and hard to come by. Keep a backup project going and get what you can. I'm also shooting for a high run time for WUProp badge potential on top of the 1 million point goal. If they don't get more work units soon, I don't think my goals will be possible.

Well it looks like Kevin over at POGS is not going to answer my questions, I looked up his computers http://pogs.theskynet.org/pogs/hosts_user.php?userid=1 it looks like the vast majority of his work has been validated by my rigs. I think he may have jumped the gun on his assesment of NickOfTimes work.

I am currentley down to less than 1% error rate actually 0.73% o-well I have set the rigs to no more work hopefully I get an answer from him but we shall see. I will decide what to run in the morning I guess.

Yeah...when you lose the sandbox control, the panic mode sets in. He could have presented this a little better too. He made it sound like teams were trying to cheat and of course there are a lot out there whom immediately assume fowl play. It is sad because we even brought this to him back in February. He could have said then to wait for in house testing. That is ok. Others have compiled their own apps now too. So, we play the wait and see game. Not to mention now that their is potential GPU in the works, some are thinking why bother pushing that project with the CPU resources when they could push something with non-GPU and just hit it hard with GPU later.

I have been providing Kevin with my source updates for the project, but for full public release, he has to compile for all the different computer types and checked that it runs correctly on all clients.

NickOfTime, you may want to have Kevin post again with a tad bit more info on what is really happening. I have read the Cows forum posts using Google Translate and there is a lot of speculation going on which is expected. The end result is a lot of people suspending or dropping the project until after Easter when the promised optimised and potential GPU apps come out. I would hate for this to become a black eye on the project because his original post was a bit misleading and lacking on information.

I read their post using Google translate, it does leave a bit to be desired when it comes to what they are actually saying. Anyway I think Kevin is not a very good communicator and I also do not believe he can justify his original statement, (too much evidence pointing the other way) so he is probably just as well off not saying anything.

Justberry - Member DPC

Are you spying us??
You are indeed both right that members are stopping crunching during our stampde because of this "problem". Mostly this comes from that there are no answers from kevin and clearly the orginal client isnt really good with speed, time = money/points.
The reaction of kevin left everybody with questions.
- is the numbers of errors higher or get wrong answers valided with the custom client?
- Will the new client be a huge boost and make the work we do now useless (during this month we got allot of hardware running, so we rather have that boost now to beat you guys :D)?

To you all, i am only glad that NickOfTime did this, it has showns us that the project needs work and lets hope they will do it soon so our stampede can go on :)

Regards,
Justberry,spying your forum ;)
