data recovery software sugestions

hello
ive had a hard drive crap out on me it seems to have lots all its partition information somehow

ive tried ontrack easy recovery 6 with little success
can anyone recommend any other software that might be able to get my data back?

Getdataback has worked for me, but it's kind of pricey

Getdataback worked for me several times, price is a bit high I agree, but it worked and also shows you the files it can recoever, before you have to buy it...which is nice

tried getdataback demo
seemed to find the files but as mentioned you have to pay for it which sucks

a computer tech friend of mine had 2 of the fujitsu drives that all died a while ago and he had a copy of file scavenger so im using that
ran it once yesterday after ~12 hours it finished searching the drive
only to have explorer crash on me during the restore
and silly me didnt save the progress so im running it again.
seems to work but boy does it bring the computer to a screaching hault
100%cpu and programs are just crawling around and stuttering as the cpu swaps between them
really nasty

at least its burning in the new zalman AlCu HSF i just got. bonus?

after running file scavenger twice over a total of a day and a half
it restors the files but they are ALL corrupt and are essentially useless
sigh

any other suggestions?

im not even sure why this drive went down in the first place it was just a single drive
i had a 15gb die that was half of a raid 0. which has nothing to do with this drive. they werent even on the same ide controller. the raid0 did however have the windows OS on it. and it did die during a windows sesion. so perhaps it just destroyed the partition info or something?
ANY ideas are more then welcome
