Sorry to be such a noob but I'm very very frustrated with this decision.

My picks at the moment are the...

-ASUS M2N-E
-MSI K9N Platinum

I was leaning towards the ASUS for a long time, as it has a lot of tweakability and looks drop dead gourgeous. After reading up on it though, it's plagued with so many issues it hurts. I've also heard it's max vDimm is 1.95v, wtf?

Now the MSI on the other hand, seems to be a solid overclocker with a max of 2.45v vDimm. Both have their quirks though. The MSI really lacks in memory tweaking too.

So anyway, can anybody reccomend a GOOD motherboard with good overclockability and that's under ~$110? And NO DFI please.

hahaha...

That Abit board, for a mATX, is loaded! The integrated Digital Visual Interface is very sexy too. <3

I just got an AM2 ECS KA3 MVP and it a really good mobo for the price. The only con to the motherbaord is the outrageous colors, but i could care less.

the dfi board is mediocre at best with a few major flaws that haven't been fixed yet. I'd rather get the abit anyday...

yup, there's a screenie floating around of the nF-M2 doing 3.2GHz (320x10, nice for an mATX) it's got decent voltages etc. in the BIOS, quiet chipset cooling via passive heatpipe & a sexy blue PCB.

the 3.2 was on a 3800+, too. And with the 4200+ only 20$ more on newegg, you could get even more out of it.

And what are these major flaws? I've read alot of posts on several forums & have not seen anything @ major flaws.

Dont get the Asus board. Its just plain bad. Yeah the RAM voltage only goes up to 1.95V. I mean honestly, what is that all about?

At least for me there is several other wierd quirks. The biggest one being that when I do a windows reformat/reinstall, it wont start the reinstall with only 1 stick of RAM in but then i get 3/4 of the way through the install and it hangs until I take one of the stick out. So I have to start with the full 1GB of RAM and then finish the install with 512MB. Not a good board.

You won't be dissapointed.

I'll be grabbing mine soon. I need it for a christmas lan in PA :D

I really like the msi k9n for a am2 mobo. Works just peachy for me. This is of course my opin.

Im about to buy a K9A Platinum, and i have to have it shipped here from across the country

A it runs cool
B it overclocks well
C supports two full pci-e 16X lanes in Crossfire
D nice onboard sound
E NF 590/570 like performance
F NF 590 like features
G NF 570 SLI cost.

and uhh... good luck with the abit board. i see more of those in for repair then all the other board makers... put together. :(

you're shitting me right?

how good is the audio on these modern boards? are we able to ditch the add-on cards yet?

Depends on what your standards are. I've used both, but usually end up putting in add-on cards with older Realtek AC97 based onboard audio because of popping during high CPU stress.

the asus m2n-e is an excellent board if you're looking for a non-sli setup. it overclocks well and has a nice setup. about the ram voltages, it does run a 1.95, but all you have to do is a bios update and you're set =] retard :p jk
