I just logged on to Steam and saw Darksiders 2 up for preorder, due for release on the 27th of June.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/50650/

There's limited and collectors editions as well, not sure what sort availability they'll have on PC.

http://www.digitalspy.com.au/gaming...limited-and-collectors-editions-revealed.html

Personally I'm excited for this game and will probably preorder it when I see a deal I like. Its the sort of game that'll drop in price fast, but I enjoyed the first one a lot and will grab this one at or close to release.

I bought the first one on sale a while back and I can't say it really impressed me much.

I hope this game has a bit more going for it.

Was there some specific things you didn't like about it, or the formula in general?

Admittedly it felt like a stripped down and simplified Zelda, but I like that sort of game and I prefer the apocalyptic theme more than the Zelda theme. They can definitely improve on Darksiders 1, mostly I think by adding more depth across the board. But still, Darksiders is one of few games in the recent years that I've actually reached the end and wished the game kept going instead of ending, so I'm looking forward to Darksiders 2.

I liked the first one, but waited for its price to drop. I'll wait on D2's price drop, too.

It's too stripped down and simplified. I'm glad I only paid $10 for it. I'll have to come at it again soon and see how I feel about it but underwhelmed would be my one word summary.

A lot more depth = me being more interested.

Personally I'm pretty pumped about this one, when I heard you get to play as Death, I was like here take my money. Only bummer is lack of mulitplayer, but on the upside this will be a pre sale bargain in no time. The gameplay demo's so far look sweet, should be a fun lil distraction until D3 and Witcher 2 come out. Currently I'm immersed in Mass Effect 3, so you know i'm going to be busy for a while, hopefully DS2 will be discounted by the time I finish it.

The "portal gun" from the first game was awful!! Besides that though I really liked the first one. Looking forward to this one was the combat looks a lot better.

The first was good, I enjoyed it since it came bundled with Space Marine.

However, I will wait for DarkSiders 2 to get a discount.

I won't say I loved the portal gun, but I didn't hate the puzzles associated with it. Games like that are half about figuring out how to traverse the map, so it didn't feel out of place to me for the one level and few puzzles you had to use it to complete.

FYI guys, GreenManGaming has Darksiders 2 preorder for $50 minus 20%, so $40 all up using a promo code listed on the page.

Its a steamworks title, so even though you buy it on GMG they simply give you the key then you use it to activate the game on Steam.

Given the price of brand new games here in Australia, $40 is a bargain and I think I'll grab it some time before the promo expires, 20% off for a preorder seems like a good deal to me.

Damn wish I would have known that. :(
I liked the first.

Me too. Game seemed empty somehow.

I loved the first one! You're playing as the four horsemen of the freaking apocalypse, that's just badass. Still, I'll wait for a steam/GMG sale, I'm cheap :D

I'll probably pick this up at some point, I still need to beat the first one. Joe Mad's character design style fit perfectly with the world and I love the look of Death in the sequel.

You know I started darksiders the other night and I'm trying to keep an open mind but I'm just not that impressed. It just seems like a generic platformer and the plot seems pretty empty. I say this despite the fact that I loved prototype with all my heart and its a pretty similar type of game. Idk just not getting in to darksiders.

Release date August 14 all platforms.

Thread necromancy.

I've finally been getting into the first Darksiders and it's grown on me a bit. Having fun with it.

Part 2 is shaping up nicely and not for the least reason of which is: Jesper Kyd is doing the music!

http://www.youtube.com/user/jesperkyd Four generous samples from his score to the game to enjoy. Should have been on Hitman Absolution but at least we're getting goodness like this and then of course he'll be scoring Assassin's Creed 3.

This game looks great and now it's damned sure going to sound great, too. There's several variants to order. Regular, Limited, and a tricked out $90 Collector's Edition.

Looking good!

^ Yup, got pushed back to August. Loved the first and have been waiting for the second for some time now. Should be a good one.

Not sure what to tell you. Never experienced or heard of that. Only thing I could possibly recommend is rolling back drivers to a previous version, possibly around when the game was released. Obviously shouldn't be necessary but...

At any rate, definitely looking forward to Darksiders 2. The first game was very enjoyable!

I can try that but I doubt that's it. Everything including that game has been great until that.

It doesn't *seem* like something a GPU driver would be involved with. I can go up to the sword and the prompt for action to pick it up simply never occurs. I can hit the surrounding loot chests just fine but not that.

At any rate, definitely looking forward to Darksiders 2. The first game was very enjoyable!

Me, too, despite this apparent game killing glitch for me in part 1. :(

Ima wait till they release some sort of demo before leaping in.

Darksiders 1 just was kinda generic to me. Wasnt the greatest.

At the time I went with Bayonetta instead and by the time I got around to playing a lent copy of darksiders for 360, all I could think about was man I wish I was playing Bayonetta instead. It wasn't bad, but just meh to me, but part deuce looks like it has potential, but the big sequel I'm really looking forward to is Borderlands 2.

Wow 25 bucks preorder... wish i got in on that.

I liked the first one quite a bit. But it's far from a 50 dollar game. Max 30, but I think I'll wait for at least 15.

I'm avoiding watching any previews or prerelease media for this game. I've already preordered it and I'm definitely gonna play it, no reason to spoil anything... I really enjoy playing games I know little to nothing about :D

I did the same, paid $5 for it I think. I think my problem with it is that while it's not bad, it doesn't do anything exceedingly well. The story is not engaging, the art style is not unique, and the game play feels damn near like a carbon copy of God of War. Now, being a GOW clone isn't a bad thing on its own (it's the reason I bought the game). But, the thing about GOW is that we all know the combat is repetitive, but it's made up for in the fact thats its pretty well a masterpiece of a game otherwise. The story is really interesting, and even if its not to someone else, it would be hard to deny that it looks and sounds absolutely amazing, especially for a console game. If you remove these aspects from GOW, it's average at best... which is where we stand with Darksiders.

I'd actually really like to finish it, just for the sake of some hack n' slash fun, but still... there is nothing overly redeeming about it. I think my favorite part about the game now is that it looks real good in 3D. I imagine the same will apply to DS2. I've got no doubts it will end up in my Steam catalog some day, but thats very likely to be a year or two down the road when this too hits $5 in a Steam sale.

You quoted a fairly early post of mine in this thread.

The first game grew on me quite a bit. I'm glad I didn't pay full price for it but as I got further into it...at least until my game killing bug that I hit...I really started to enjoy it.

In my case, the game will probably be good enough that I'm not going to wait an eternity for $5. I haven't decided yet. I won't know until, of course, the reviews, the feedback, and the rest of the media hit but I like what I'm seeing here on 2 so far and I have a hard time believing this game is going to be poop if it got Jesper Kyd to whip out the good music he's done for it.

Oh come on...two minutes...just take a gander. Or at least hit that link to Jesper Kyd's youtube page and take in that awesome music. No visuals there. ;)

First boss fight in the game before you get all of your moves of course.

Considering that's console footage it looks pretty solid.

Best I can tell so far with everything: It seems like the devs have taken the good things from part one mostly to the next level and addressed at least some of the criticisms coming off part one.

It's going to be interesting to see how the PC version of this fares. The first game was quickie port that had several game killing bugs that never got fixed. I got burned one of them myself which was a shame because I was really enjoying the game. I'm glad I only paid $15 or so for that. KBM was decent enough on that port.

This has promise! I'm keeping an eye on it.

I'll say this again: If this game inspired the kind of music I'm hearing out of Jesper Kyd, I suspect it's going to be pretty damned good.

Awesome 20-min gameplay from GB, shows combat, talks about how loot is (feeding possed weapons, etc) and skill trees among other things.

Can't wait for this game, glad I got my CE ordered before they all sold out.

For all the trash talking I see CE's get, they sure always seem to sell out fast for any of these games.

I like what I'm seeing on Darksiders 2. It looks and sounds like they took everything to the next level. Added more RPG like elements to it. Random loot. Leveling up character and weapons. Skill trees. Sidequests. The works. Everything is bigger, deeper and better.

Love Jesper Kyd's music, too. The more I see the more this moves up my anticipation list. :)

I am usually one that trash talks most CE's, I did it about Skyrim, CoD, etc. Mainly because most CE's are not "limited" and generally you'll find them on store shelves months after the game for <30 bucks lower then what it cost at launch.

However it's different when Ce's are actually limited (like this), such as the Bioshock 1 CE, first WoW CE, etc. Those generally raise in value over time because when they sell out they actually sell out, and don't go make more like most.

Collectors editions and preorders are evil and are only for idiots/sheep right up until it's something you yourself want then they're ok :p

I am looking forward to Darksiders 2, unfortunately I don't have a computer to play it on right now, but hopefully I can scrounge something together before it comes out.

Is there any info on whether the PC version is receiving any extra love and attention?

Darksiders 2 hands-on. four changes that make it better then the first

http://poptimal.com/2012/08/darksid...ges-that-make-it-better-than-its-predecessor/

In Darksiders, the apocalypse is triggered a millennia early causing angels and demons to wreck havoc on Earth, essentially bringing an unprepared humanity to extinction. War, one of the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, is falsely accused by the Charr Council for kickstarting the Apocalypse. To avoid death, War convinces the council to send him to Earth so he can clear his name. With the original game becoming a success, developer Vigil Games set out to create Darksiders 2 not as a sequel, but a story that runs parallel to the one in Darksiders featuring Death, War's horseman brother, as the main character.

Last month at San Diego Comic-Con 2012 I had the opportunity to get some hands-on with Darksiders 2, the highly anticipated sequel from developers Vigil Games. After finishing the action-oriented demo I came across quite pleased at some of the changes Vigil Games has added to make the series feel fresh and new.

1. Death has his own style - The action in the original Darksiders, while fun, can become monotonous due to War's lack of agility and heavy movement. War's dodge mechanic was a quick dash, which could only get you so far from enemy attacks. Most of the time I found myself getting hit by wide-range attack even after dashing out of the way *stares at Tiamat*. Playing through the Darksiders 2 demo I found the complete opposite with Death. Here was a character that was quick, agile, and nothing like War. With his iconic scythe in hand, Death is able to cover all corners of the battlefield, dodging out of the way of one attack and into his next with finesse and ease. Add the option of equipping a secondary weapon of your choice and the combos and play style continues to grow.

2. Loot - One of my favorite additions in the demo was loot dropped by defeated enemies. Coming off of playing Diablo 3, my urge to find better weaponry and armor has only just been satisfied. The addition of equipment in Darksiders 2 will likely cause a resurgence of loot grinding. The concept of loot is pretty simple - kill an enemy and they will either drop an item or nothing at all. The loot in Darksiders 2 will range from 12 different pieces of armor for Death's body to second hand weapons such as axes, hammers, and maces. The loot will also come in color-coded tiered-levels allowing players to differentiate the rarity of the equipment.

3. New Game Plus - Darksiders 2 will feature a new game plus mode allowing gamers to carry over their character and equipment as they try to beat the game on harder difficulties. Why bother playing again? Better weapon drops and increased chances of rarer loot on higher difficulties is a good place to start.

4. Customization - Every player's War in Darksiders looked the same, regardless of play style and equipment. Vigil wanted to change that around with Darksiders 2 by allowing players to customize Death through equipment and stats. As players level up, they will be able to add points into two skill trees, Harbinger and Necromancer allowing for even more ways to play. I was only able to gaze upon a small portion of the level of customization, but I can see a ridiculous amount when the game hits retail later this month.

Darksiders 2 will hit stores on August 14th for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.

Fantastic. I'm in. Also buying Jesper Kyd's fantastic 2 disc CD score from Amazon at the same time.
