I'm pretty sure it's a bit more viscous than water with antifreeze...But no sure by how much...

FYI... that stuff does not have the same cooling efficiency as good old distilled water a some coolant. So you will not get as good of temps as you would with water.

Non-conductive solutions are usually only a degree or so off of distilled water, if they actually work as well as they did for that person I would say it is worth it.
 
I run it and love it. There isnt that much of a draw back except in the price, but I have previously stated in other thread that is a worth while lifeline! Most reviewers rate it very comparable to the most popular fluid mixtures with temps variable one or two degrees higher or lower.

I got mine free with a 100 dollar purchase and will be glad to pay full price it in the future.
 
What's the difference btwn MCT-5 and -40 besides the freezing point?

Also, do you mix these with water or use as is?
 
Water itself is non-conductive. It's the impurities in water that makes it conductive. I wouldn't take my chances with distilled water from a grocery store, but distilled water they use at hospitals in the operating room, well that stuff is purest of pure and won't conduct electricity.

Distilled water from the store won't conduct enough electricty on its own to damage anything. And it's not 'impurities' that make it conduct, it's simply having dissolved ionic compounds (like salt or metal etc)...

There is no difference besides the freezing point. This is important to some people who use different methods of cooling to bring temps below -5C. You don't mix it with anything.

I'd love to get you the "distelled water from the hospital" as you said and have you stand in there and i'll put JUST 12volts (AC outlets are 110v) in it. In my 5 years in engineering i never encountered a book that says distelled water is non-conductive.

I think you need to get your facts straight...pure distilled water IS non conductive (or very close to it). However, pure water never stays pure for very long at all. Once you put it in a watercooling loop it begins sucking in ions and impurities from whatever it can get it from (this is why water is so corrosive, it WANTS to suck in those ions). If you could keep your body from contaminating the water when you step in it then you would be just fine. The problem is when you step in the water you contaminate it.

Conductivity is typically measured in Mhos, or Micromhos. very well purified
water can typically be brought as low as .1-.2 micromhos.

Wow, I certainly home I never interact with anything electrically engineered by you. It's one of the oldest little-known-facts there is. De-ionized water is non-conductive. Do you even know what an ion is, or how electricity works?

If you have a person stand in the water, of course it will be conductive. Your skin contains many kinds of salt which acts as an ionic solutes to form an electrolytic solution. I'm not trying to insult you, we're all trying to help to become better educated.

Wow, you're an engineer? I hope you don't engineer anything I ever use. A freshman chemistry class will tell you that distilled water is non-conductive. You can test it if you really want.

Very pure water doesn't conduct electricity, but as soon as any substance that ionizes in water is added, you have a conductor owing to the fact that the ionized atoms in the water solution carry the current.

Knowledge of this property gives one a valuable tool for controlling chemical reactions. For one thing, ionized atoms experience acceleration when an electric field is set up within the solution. Ionized Atoms move toward the charge of opposite sign. This effect is used in electroplating to provide a smooth even coating of atoms on your target material. The electric force causes the atoms to move out of the solution at concentration levels far below those of a saturated solution.
