Hi all,

I have a d940, got it whent the price hit 290 here (Australia). My question what is the max temp these cores can handle?. I have been keeping it below 60 (normally hits 55 under load) but i would really like to know its max temp. on hot days it hits 60 and it beeps like mad (i set the temp warning to 60) and then i simply shut the computer down.. I cant afford a new mobo and chip right now so am stuck with this one for awhile.

thanks

60C is absolutely fine for an overclocked PD940, I presume that you shut down because you fear the chip would be damaged by this level of heat but I tell you there is no harm being done at 60C, I had my P4 3.6G running at around 65C for 2 years without any glitches.

In case you can't stop being paranoid about the temperature, get a good fan and mod your case to achieve best ventilation.;)

Thanks,

Since it is summer i have ramped my cpu back to stock speeds (summer here hits 40C easy). Havent updated my sig just yet sorry... I have heard of the throtteling, this is the first gen d940 made Using the 65nm process by intel.. so was not sure, i beleive intel have include a failsafe in the cpu that if the temp hits a critical mark the cpu will simply either slow down or come to a complete halt...
