"D" to 100GHz!!

Since the last "D" Drive went so well (I think 100GHz in 12 days is damn good)... I think we should start another!!

I don't have any to add at the moment, but I'm working on a few borgs...

Keep on Folding!!

well in 12 days (xmas :p) I hope to have a nice 3 ghz laptop sitting on my lap .. so er i'll let you know :)

Gimme a minute...

I got the /etc/init.d/fold script working! Okay, within the week I should have 20 or more machines at 1.2 and .9 gHz added. Just gotta get permission for permanent installation. I'm allowed to run it on the short term, make sure it doesn't kill anything, and it hasn't, so I'd guess the [H]orde is in for a 20gHz bump... :D

Soon and very soon, I promise.

just installed it today on my main 2600+ machine

100GHz - 2.08GHz
=
97.92GHz to go

Them's small potatoes.... I hear your 500 Ghz. and raise it to 1000 Ghz. So who's gonna take me up on the challenge to do another one of these? :D :p

I figured that keeping the number in the 100GHz range would keep things interesting... if it's too big, people might forget?

90.32 GHz - 0.17GHz (OCed my new Sempron 2200+ to 1.67GHz from 1.5GHz)

leaves...

90.15Ghz

Keep on Folding!!

D is boxen, aka computers.... that you use to fold for the [H]orde... Take a look in the FAQ Sticky at the top of forum, and it'll better explain things...

If you've added any GHz since yesterday (12/13), then subtract it from the remaining amount (90.15 GHz as of right now)

Keep on Folding!!

I've got permission. Now all I have to do is install it on all the machines, over ssh on a 32 kilobit link. Boo verizon. :(

bpimmerman: note that it's only "new" gHz that count. If you have been folding already, that doesn't count. Only machines that are added count toward the total.

edit:
Okay, 25 new borgs, average speed is around 1gHz, so...
90.15gHz
- 25.00gHz
========
65.15gHz

Bam.
edit2: w0000t! look at those points roll in! and that's just with 5 of the 25 kicked in. There are about 10 2.4 p4's I'll have to get by hand, but trust me I will :D

Glad to hear you got permission!!! We need more Boxen to beat those Aussies... The gap is staying around 200-220 days... we need to get that down to.. well.. them eating our dust, but that's besides the point :D

Keep on Folding!!

Any updates from the last week or so since the Forum has been down?

Currently at 65.15GHz to go!!

Keep on Folding!!

Thanks to a video card donation from T-3, got another 2.2GHz of AMD goodness on the fire, so 62.95GHz to go!

Small add:

1 233Mhz Laptop and 200Mhz gain from tweaking various overclocks:

62.95
-00.43

=62.52Ghz to go.

Nope. The point system is based on a Pentium II 233 MHZ (deadlines). I have no problem running it (version 4, on Win 98 OS). At worst, if you are missing a deadline, you can always shift the work to another computer.

Edit:
As I was. It is tested on the following system:

http://folding.stanford.edu/faq.html#run.unit
How do you decide how much credit a work unit is worth?

How do you determine how many points a work unit is worth? Before putting out any new work unit, we benchmark it on a dedicated 2.8GHz Pentium 4 machine with SSE2 disabled (more specifically, as reported by /proc/cpuinfo on linux: vendor_id : GenuineIntel, cpu family : 15, model : 2, model name : Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz, stepping : 9, cpu MHz : 2806.438, cache size : 512 KB). This machine runs linux, so all WUs are benchmarked with the linux core.

But it still runs on a Pentium II 233 fine.

Borged a Lady I work with's home computer(my payment for fixing her email).

62.52-2.4=60.12 to go!

lets bring this back.. i borged a few more comps
60.12
-2.2
-3
-1.8
--------
53.12 ghz to go

Let's see...I borged about 140 systems Dec 17th....anywhere from 1Ghz to 2.1Ghz.

Sooo..
53.12Ghz
-224Ghz (1.6AvgX140)
-170.88Ghz!

Well....we are past the 100Ghz mark...by just a bit :O)

I don't often say this, but LOL! :D

Are these the ones that are just 'til the 3rd?

Yep, just for now.....I will see what I can do to keep those plus add another 4-500 or so.

Jeez, man... get a new job or something? win the lottery? sell a moose? :D

whatever it is, keep it up!

Finally got up the motivation to do it, so whatever negative we're at right now -2.08ghz. I'll work on borging some other stuff around here tomorrow. And perhaps I can get my school's computers once I go back. Has anyone written a network install script?

the closest I've come is an entry in /etc/init.d, and a little script which started and it and chkconfig'ed it on, then ssh in one at a time. You can have that if you want, though. Better than nothing.

Oh wait.. windows? no.

Haha, yep, windows unfortunately. Well, I guess it's manual install for me. I guess I can have it auto-settings though without too much trouble.
/threadjack

I just got 2 more running so -1.8 -1.83.

Yep, it is what I used....to install and remove across a network, assuming admin rights on the systems.

I will post it in the new year.

Oh, so you are finally getting around to figuring out why we are keeping you around and fattening you up? :D
