as it's a stinking hot day in sunny melbourne (40C/104F according to digital thermometer hanging out back window - not in shade), it's currently 28C inside. i mention this as it's the first real test of my recently completed WC loop. as there is no AC in the house, i've had to turn my PC backwards to get the wash off the quad 120mm rad fans. really wish i had the other dual 120 rad mounted on the back to get the breeze from 6 120mm fans, anyway i digress.

it got me wondering what a good delta between the ambient temperature and water temperature is. a quick googling lead me to this page on 'overclockers.com';
http://www.overclockers.com/guide-deltat-water-cooling/

Let’s Talk About What a “Good” DT is

A CPU loop needs a good DT. Under 10°C is just fine, getting closer to 5°C is very nice and important if you want big overclocks. Getting under 5°C is just overdoing it, unless you’re very extreme, need it for benching or just want a challenge. On an average CPU loop shoot for under 10°C and adjust your overclocks to be fine under the temperatures suggested by the CPU and GPU manufacturers...

with my previous WC loops i haven't bothered with deltas or flow rates or loop restriction or high/low FPI rads or matching fans according to aforementioned radiator fin density (a certain trend of less than Hard is evident here...). in other words my efforts were low-tech, ad-hoc and downright dodgy in some cases.
my recent build included one aquaero 5 xt controller, apart from being buggy as hell (had & still having issues with mine) is a very nice piece of kit. with it comes all manner of cool monitoring stuff outside the usual fan monitoring/throttling and temp sensors.

shit, wandered way off topic again. my question is to those with a water temp probe and a ambient temp thermometer, what kind of deltas are others on H getting.
also does anyone have additional thoughts to add.

anyway, here's mine. if i'm missing something or if i've got my shit arse backwards, let me know. i'm sure the likes of tsumi (et. al) will set me straight... ;)
should be an opportunity to show off your [H] WC gear.
i'm missing the info for load which i'll fill in later. no doubt this is the most important figures & somehow i don't think it'll be anything like the 4C difference i get during idle.

if this thread doesn't die prematurely, please cut & paste the template above.

cheers.

Wouldn't it depends on the CPU? I mean a 900 i7 and a 2000 i7 pump out different amounts of heat, so in the same air with the same loop the water is going to be hotter. So that needs to go into the equation somewhere!

Should also include something like...

X = CPU Watts (when overclocked + w of other components [though that might be dfficult]) / (Water temp - Ambient)

People should state the V used in the overclock, as this will effect heat dumped in loop. Also case being used and position of fans!

When the loop gets rebuilt (soon, and I actually add a water tempreture sensor) i'll add mine! :D

agreed, lots of variables to consider tho my question is more about how peoples respective custom loops deal with that heat. other than getting a rough guide on what hardware is in forum members machines, just after peoples 'DT'. didn't want to get bogged down in heatload calculations, if you've got 2 temperature sensors (room temp & water temp), then that's all you need to 'play the game'.

I don't have my computer at the moment, so these numbers aren't accurate by any means, they're just numbers I remembered off the top of my head. Once I get my computer, I'll get more accurate numbers.

wow, nice deltas on 'Tsumi' & 'spitter's' loops.
less than 1C idle & 5C load is some serious WC power on spitter's system short chilling/TEC's.
thanks for posting. hoping to see some more replies that put my loop to shame.
need to update with my load figures, scared now ;)
