Any idea if this would not work? assume the reservoir is capped top and bottom.
 
You could delete the center tube and it would be the same as any other tube res. No reason why it shouldn't work.

I'm super curious though - whatcha working on? =)

Not intending too, but my tube res has developed cracks again, and instead of buying another and trying to make it work with my setup, thinking of building my own. Thinking of trying this setup to see if it helps with vortexing and aeration.

So to update this, it works amazingly well. Air bubbles separate right at the surface, no vortexing at all. No fountain affect either with the coolant. I know this is taken full, but the loop is running and has been for about 20mins at the time and getting no further bubbles, no noise in the radiators or piping.
