Cuplex XT w/ Copper top?

Why are you thinking of switching? Either look fine to me... but why care what others think if you're only changing it for looks?

My thoughts exactly. It's purely cosmetic, so if you like it, then do it.

I myself am not a fan of AC, but if I had to choose, I think I like the blue better.

The copper top helps reduce the temps, albeit slightly.

I like it with the bling bling clear more.

Congrats on the site, seeker. I see it's ALL FREE. If you need some place to put some ads for cheap or something, Just PM me (8331) over at www.computercreators.com and I'll see what I can do.

It is always because "I can" moreso than functionality. I just figure it might be time for a change, other than a new EK video block.

That copper top is nice. I've been trying to get one for a while now.

Gotta say I like the current price at Tempestcool. Does anyone know when Tempest is going to get some in? I know I would sure like to order one! :)

Just my temps, but who would believe me?

The efficiency of thermal transfer between two metals is quite low when there's no thermal interface material. Even when the IHS and baseplate are significantly flat, 80-90% of the area between the two will likely consist of voids of air pockets and will be highly resistant to thermal transfer. Even with a properly applied TIM between the two plates, very little heat from the core(s) will make its way through these areas (not anywhere near the cores) and coolant flow around these areas will not be very effective at absorbing any of this heat. Not factoring in the additional effect of coolant temperature being reduced by the additional surface area of the copper (not significant).

You may have seen a change in core temperature when you switched to copper, but it's far more likely that some other variable(s) changed when you did so (likely your mount). If you're seeing a .5C improvement with a well applied TIM between the two plates, I'd be pretty shocked.

I don't think anyone here will doubt that you observed a change when you switched to the copper top plate. I simply don't believe that it was due to the copper top plate.

Please note that everything I say is probably wrong and open for debate. I'm just that kind of guy :p

As you say it is not likely especially considering that the copper top is separated by an o-ring from the middle jet block and another o-ring between it and the heat plate.

Im sure it was an anomally, but according to the Aquaero the temp is down slightly. My original comment was meant more as a barb than any thing else. However, the copper top looks cool IMO.
