Crysis Hardware Update:

im sure it will. you just wont get all teh eyecandy.

that system will run anythign you can throw at it for at least another year.

shit, my 6800GT is still kickin ass at 1680x1050, and I bought it 2 years ago.

FEAR was the only game I couldnt run at native res.
I think i'll be able to put most of the eye candy on because i'm on a 10" monitor right now, but i'm getting a 17" CRT with 1280 x 1024 resolution, or i'll just buy like a 250 $ DX 10 card so i can run it with all max settings

I did like the phrase multi-core rather them just saying dual-core. With the quads coming pre-crysis we should have the hardware able.

did you read the OP he said "Crysis will feature out-of-the-box 32-bit, 64-bit, DirectX 9, DirectX 10, and multithreading support."

he said multithreaded, nothing about duel cpu's quad core or anything of the such

Yeah but a phrase like "a performance difference of up to 10 to 15 percent on each thread" implies it

Multithreaded = uses more than one thread = will take advantage of more than one CPU core/thread.

I feel this game will be the first game (besides Oblivion) to really test out my new 7950 GX2

I don't have dual core yet, I don't feel 1 (well 2-3) game(s) is enough to warrent spending double the amount of money for a dual core setup which runs at the same speed as single core in 99.9% of games.

Why is everyone so happy about dual core, IIRC the performance increase in Quake4 with the dual core patch was in the margin of a few FPS in high quality mode, maybe it was just that it was GPU limited, in fact this almost definately was the reason because with low res settings it excelled past the single cores.

Is the current trend of video card bottlenecks going to continue in games for a while? Opinions please

Also I feel this was missing from the duo reviews recently by HardOCP, ok so current games don't need CPU's that fast but at what point does the CPU start to matter, finding this blance with modern video cards would have been helpful, because i suspect that my 64 4000+ (overclocked a bit) is going to last a fair while yet.

I can run Far Cry on 8xAA/16xAF on ONE CARD and it's stutter free....so maybe Crysis won't be so bad on my 7900GTXs after all (in DX9 mode that is).

You can only do that on a SINGLE card at low resolutions (i.e., you have a 17" display)....crank the res to 1680x1050 with 8xAA and 16xAF with everything to "very high" and you are going to see a slide show.....not playable.

This game is looking gorgeous. I hope the gameplay is there too. If it's half as good as Farcry then I'll be happy

64bit = Yes
Dual Core = Yes
DX10 Card = Damn
Vista = Nope, b*llocks

Crysis, makes you want to cry - the most expensive game to play ever!

agreed, no matter what anyone says, if they say they can max out farcry even tho it is years old, on one 7900gtx at a respectable res, and not anything below 19", I mean as you say, 1600x1050 and up preferably 1600x1200 and higher especially at 8xaa and 16xaf = they be speaking out of that hole they gloriously call the ass, as its impossible to max farcry out at 1600x1050 with 8xaa and 16xaf and have a stable game without it stuttering and eventually turning into a slideshow or slowing down bad enough for it to be shit to play.

A 7900gtx is good, but it isnt the holy grail.

I do all that WITH HDR enabled, and I get 78FPS on my 6800GT. (its overclocked, thats why)

well then you dont do all of that, you have AA turned off when you have HDR enabled, and even a overclocked 6800gt couldnt play farcry maxed at 8xaa and 16xaf even with a 17inch monitor.

Cuz my overclocked 6800gt cannot do it, and I fail to believe that another 6800gt can...

i max both demos (dont have the full game yet :(. ) at 1280x1024 on my ati x700 pro agp card and it runs 40-50 fps, which is fine 4 me. if a 7900gtx cant do this at 1600x1050, thats a monumental dissapointment.

do you agree, that a 6800gt is better than a ati x700

well even my 6800gt cannot max farcry at 1280x1024, when i say max, I mean turning the game upto its highest settings, and then forcing 8xAA and 16xAF and all the other settings turned up high.

Ok farcry is an ATI game and will run better on ati cards than nvidia cards, but no way would a x700 get a stable game all the way threw farcry, some levels and parts maybe, but there is a shitload of levels where even a single 7800gtx will not do this at the same resolution.

8xAA for farcry on any video card will bring it to its knees, not so much the high end video cards, but the last gen of cards from both nvidia and ati, playing farcry at 8xaa = slideshow.

I have never played the demo, but rest assured the demo must be vastly different from the proper game if you can run 8xaa with no probs.
