Update at Gamespot

Crysis will feature out-of-the-box 32-bit, 64-bit, DirectX 9, DirectX 10, and multithreading support. The 64-bit version "will bring a performance difference of up to 10 to 15 percent on each thread" compared to the 32-bit version.

The E3 demo was all about DX 9 shader model 2.0--there was no more technology than this

What's interesting is that Yerli told us that if you have Windows Vista and an older DirectX 9 card, you should still see better performance with Windows Vista than Windows XP, even if the hardware remains unchanged. "DirectX 9 on Vista will run faster throughout due to the better device driver model...which is a great thing because just upgrading the operating system on the same rig, you get a better gaming experience,"

The game will run fine on current, single-core CPUs, but it will take advantage of the latest multicore CPUs, as well. Yes, that means Crysis is multithreaded, which means that it can make maximum use out of dual-core systems

I can't wait for this game, I'm psyched

I'm going to have fun using it in evaluations

I get the feeling it will be used in benchmarks tests for years after its release

The 'recommended' video requirements are what worry me....they 'recommend' an X1800XT or 7800GTX to run the game on 'recommended' settings, this means that a 7900GT/X1800XT wont be able to handle the game at 1280 or 1600 resolutions with any AA or AF to mess with.

hell yeah then buying a x2 3800+ was worth it 3 months ago when i never herd of the new crysis but i loved far cry iver seen screenies and they make me wet my panties :p

This game will be like the original, a masterpiece that will only be maxed out in terms of aa and af in like 5 years time.

Even today I cannot use more than 4xaa or farcry turns into a slide show :( but what a game it still is :)

I upgraded for the 1st FarCry and I'll upgrade for this one too. It looks SICK!!! :D

I can run Far Cry on 8xAA/16xAF on ONE CARD and it's stutter free....so maybe Crysis won't be so bad on my 7900GTXs after all (in DX9 mode that is).

Will sute just perfectly my New system
actually it wont. ur seperate PPU wont b used in crysis. crysis will use their own physx programming. u have a great setup, just that one physx processor wont b supported in this game.

this is applying to ur signature by the way, idk if u have a current rig that ur talkin about.

Im pretty sure Crysis will on fine on a 7900GT/GTX, there wont be any market for them if they didnt optimize the gfx code properly... and if they even optimize it more who knows they can even increase the performance upto 45% more.. or so..

All DX10 does is increase performance, they have said that before

This is what I love to see... great amounts of care being taken to make the most of every piece of hardware in your system. They put other developers to shame.

so 64-bit Vista + Multi core CPU + DX10 will provide the best performance, ohh and dont forget multi GPU aswell in the mix.

okay so then a revision:

dual core CPU = check
dual core DX9 GPU = check
Vista (when released) = check-a-roonies

;) still good 2 go. So I dont have a DX10 card. They wont even be out till mid 07 anyways. Crysis will be out in November/December, so EVERYONE will be forced to run DX9 for a while. Heck, the photos and demo movies are all rendered in SM 2.0, so it will look better with SM 3.0 rendering......see where im headed with this...? Its gonna look good either way.

Now for the big question: Will it dethrone Prey in the "Oh damn that looks freakin beautiful" department??? Who knows....?

I hope it will run on my soon to be 7900 GT, + E6300 @ 2.5 ghz system, or i may have to upgrade to like a 300 $ DX 10 card

im sure it will. you just wont get all teh eyecandy.

that system will run anythign you can throw at it for at least another year.

shit, my 6800GT is still kickin ass at 1680x1050, and I bought it 2 years ago.

FEAR was the only game I couldnt run at native res.

this is going to be awsome.

Finally we will have a game benchmark for 64bit... it will answer alot of questions.

I wasnt too hyped over XP-64.....Just didnt twink my nuggest just right. I am however watiing to see if Vista will be a VAST improvement over XP.......Sorry, but XP has too many failings for me. Unfortunately, everything and its electronic cousin run off XP, so I really dont have a choice......

Who has EVER said that when playing Prey?
I don't think it holds the throne for anything.

Dual core: No...
DX10: No...
64 Bit: Yes!

Screw dual core and and dx10, 64 bit + dx9 will be fine for me.

My X1900XTX "should" run it, I hope...

Have you played the game all the way through??? and if so with what equipment??? Its absolutely stunning on my setup with all the eyecandy. 3DR, HH, and 2K Studios did an awesome job IMO and thats why I said what I said.....

nope, I have to admit, prey wasnt anything special, we have seen better, and for the game to be in some stage of dev for 10 years, well I dunno, maybe I expected more, but it just wasnt to be.

Admittedly I havent finished it, but I am like uber close to finishing it, but I got bored of it, same ol shit.

same here. Very repetitive. and they dont use gravity nearly enough, or interestingly enough.

Imagine if you had the gravity gun all they way through HL2, but you only got to use it when you first get it, and a little in ravenholm or something; and the rest of the time it was some useless thing you lugged around. Thats preys gravity switching.

I was pissed by how little the Enhanced Gravity Gun was used in the Half Life series. I guess the game would be way too easy if you had it the entire way, but I think I would've had a lot of fun with it. I hated that. The entire time in Episode 1 i was just waiting for that chamber. Haha.

That Jenn-monster-leg thing was badass.

I did like the phrase multi-core rather them just saying dual-core. With the quads coming pre-crysis we should have the hardware able.
