Originally scheduled to ship this fall, Electronic Arts has decided to postpone Crysis 2 until March 2011. The standard “more time to polish” excuse was given:

"We moved to the game to a better marketing window in the March quarter," Jeff Brown, VP of Corporate Communications told IGN. "This will also give the Crytek team more time to polish a great title."

Fort this game its ok to delay "ONCE" so no biggie! They start with the multiple delays then they can suck it!

I would rather have a game delayed, than to be released early, only to patch it 10 times before it was playable ;)

Eh, you did see and remember that it is an EA game right?
Their rules on game releases are just that, hell even if released 'on time' they still will patch the game the same day, or within days of the game coming out.

Can't wait till it's released. Hope it is as fun as the first. Definitely one of the few games I am looking forward to.

this sounds like they want no part of: MOH, COD7, and two others i forgot.

Upside: It'll give GPU's more time to catch up? Or rather, GPU prices to drop so I can betterafford the upgrade to run it ;)

That is what i thought, they have to delay it to wait for a playable system to be out for sale first, or at least be for sale at affordable prices.

Only if they actually put a lot of extra effort into the PC version. If all they do is put out a quick copy of the console version it won't be very demanding.

HALO 4

EA knows that during the festive period if the average consoler has to choose between two 'marine versus aliens' games, they'll choose the one they're most familiar with.

Smart move by EA.

But we can hope Crytek will take the opportunity to do up the PC version.

How much you want to bet this is going to be JACP?

JACP = Just Another Console Port, FYI

Sounds like they maybe are trying to or have already landed a deal with a XBOX 360 special edition or PS3 special edition and 2011 is a better marketing date for that since COD and MoH are coming this fall.

I already bought Crysis 2 and was waiting for November to come. :(

Devoplers werent happy that they were hitting 9 FPS with the most current hardware available so they are stalling. They love to poorly code their games then blame the hardware.

Ehh doesn't bother me one bit. More then likely it will be a console port. To many developers claim they still do serperate versions for the pc, but it just turns out to be lies. I have the first crysis, but wasn't all that impressed with the gameplay. Hit detection was off and shooting 30 rounds into a guy to kill him got old really fast. To me it sounds like they don't was to mess with te sales of the heavy jitters coming out later this fall.

QFT

Crysis is gorgeous, but its programming is terribly inefficient. There is no excuse for its terrible performance, today.

If they're only hit 9fps on current hardware, by March of next year we'll only have ATi's 6xxx refresh out...

Assuming it's ~50% faster, doesn't that just mean an increase from 9 to... ~14?

No sure it's worth delaying it for that... Then again, Crysis did just run like complete ass on release... I returned it and bought it again later after fixes for $18, so they did lose $30+ from me out of that...

they're being chicken shit.

they'd rather avoid the competition, because they know Crysis 2 can't hold a candle to the upcoming onslaught of games.

Frankly, Crysis 2 brings nothing new to the table, and has pretty boring gameplay from what I have seen.

I fell asleep watching the gameplay demo videos released a couple months ago.

Wasn't it voted "Most Anticipated Game" at E3? I'm pretty sure console folks are interested in what we were talking about back in 2007, even if it turns out not all that great.

Of the competition mentioned, Crysis 2 was the only one I was already aware of, and still the only one I'm interesting in buying...

I'm not done being bored with the current Crysis...and it's boring weapons.

Someone wake me when Half Life 3 makes noise. :p

You mean upcoming titles like MoH will be bringing new and innovative gameplay? That's news to me :p

Not this shit again. I still have yet to see one example of "inefficient" or "poor coding" cited. Take a look at what Cryengine 2 attempts (and manages to) pull off and let me know what exactly is inefficient. Provide some pudding and I'll acquiesce - I've been saying this since 2008 and have yet to actually hear details. It's mostly people shooting off at the mouth on forums about how their e-peen has shriveled up.

That happens with many games- even Blizzard games. SC2 needed to be patched as soon as it came out.

Polish = Dumb down and break game so it will run well on consoles :p
Just another game to avoid, the fact that EA is behind it makes it all that much easier

Word. Give me Lara Croft with a Brazilian!

Yeah, I don't know why, but it's fun playing female characters. My wife thinks it's funny. Call me strange, but an option for a female character is a little extra incentive to buy a game.
