Crysis 2 Advanced Graphics Options Application

The PC programmers probably wanted to make it awesome but some cooporate dickhead who only knows consoles =$$$ and nothing of Crytek's fan base headed off any of their suggestions to make a game people actually want to play :p hahah
And looks who's getting bashed constantly on this forum... we need some kind of investigation into this matter, then egg that guys house/mansion.... then give little "Get well soon" cards to the actual human/decent game developers, they are probably sick right about now.

I game at 1920x1200. While it is a far cry from triple monitor resolutions, the image on each screen ought to be the same (particularly the center screen). Maybe three monitors affects your vision by increasing the amount of incoming visual information and therefore decreasing the detail processed. However, I notice a lack of at least 2xAA in most games.

I doubt that [H] will ever use Crysis 2 for testing, nor am I saying that you absolutely need to crank the AA. However, I find the lack of any AA at all interesting and a bit misleading. From what I understand, AA would bottleneck the GTX 590 more than that review shows at those resolutions.

an external ap ARE YOU KIDDING ME this REEKS of laziness
crytech can suck a hairy cock

I've never seen a bunch of elitist crying twats in my life all the way from the top of this site right down to the whining followers... man this site has gone to shit over the years.

fuk u and fuk crybabytech

yup.. blame the company for wanting to make money off a game my catering to the MAJORITY of the market......

So you think its perfectly acceptable for this game not to even have any options to adjust individual graphics options like AA, that you only have three pre-set graphical settings to choose from? Please, even Mass Effect 2 (a console-port to PC) had more graphical customization options than this pile of garbage. Even with that console port, the developers gave the PC a different user interface vs. the console versions that better suit a mouse and controller. This is absolutely inexcusable!

Not against them making 360 or PS3 money at all. However, they chose to market, and sell it to the PC market as well. That means they also have to cater to that market a bit by giving it the normally and completely expected, ability to adjust a handful of performance options.
They went backwards with this title, it lost more than it gained. If it sells more than the first one, which while graphically stunning even today, was otherwise an average game, I would be surprised.

They will make their money on the 360 and ps3.

Crytek should be ashamed and embarrassed of themselves for getting trumped like this. It's a kick in their balls and even with this GUI add-on for graphics adjustments, I will not be buying and supporting this.

This is almost as controversial as when they said Crysis would be optimized for quad cores, be CPU dependent, and when it turned out that all the locked "DX10" features could be added in windows xp by editing a config file. I am genuinely surprised.

I have to admit that I enjoyed the Crysis 1 and Warhead. So far I am about an hour and a half into Crysis 2 and I am enjoying it so far. I am very disappointed that they have released it using DX9 graphics. It looks really good for DX9, but we are at DX11 levels now, that seams a bit lazy. I understand they wanted to get it released within a certain timetable, and consoles played a major part in that decision. I think most of us PC gamers would have happily waited if Crytek came out and said, "we have released the console versions. Sorry for the delay to PC, but we would like it to be released with the full proper support that it deserves."

I think you're on to something, this should have been released as the beta PC version. Throw it out there for free to let us test while you finish what coulda/shoulda been a great looking game. Then 2 months or so down the line, BAM Full Behemoth with no BS surrounding it.

Yet another example of looking at the past in rose colored glasses. Crysis 1 was hardly a good game if you consider Crysis 2 a piece of garbage. Crysis 1 was a pretty standard checkpoint shooter where you go from point to point killing stuff.

Well said!

How hard could it have been for crytek to implement a gui options to these console menu in game? It's really really obvious that they care nothing about pc. This is just rubbing it in if you asked me.

Why do so many people assume that the average PC gamer what's to screw around with a bazillion settings instead of just having a few simple ones? Would it be nice to have the options? Sure. Do most people who game on a PC really care if the game looks good and runs well? I would think not.

lol what? :p

You're the guy with the uber-rig! Do you care if a PC game runs and looks well?

I hope your statement wasn't serious...

They will make their money on the 360 and ps3.

So, what is your point?
They made their money back, and profited from, Crysis and Warhead on just the PC. They will prolly make back whatever they spent on porting Crysis 2 over to PC even with the uproar.

Meh, at this point they should prolly just stick to the consoles anyway.

That's why many games have this "Advance" option. Either you can set a general setting to medium high low or whatever, or you can enter Advance of Custom to tweak it one by one.

So we all actually have a choice

Crytek is just plain lazy. No excuse for that.

Why? Even if you don't like, plenty of people like myself do. And I don't want it on a console. Games, even console ports simply play better on a console and I'll never probably have a console. I want every game possible on the PC, including console ports.

I agree. I have all 3 major consoles, mostly for the kids, and don't care for gaming on consoles. Mouse + keyboard has always been more enjoyable to me, but doesn't mean I wouldn't mind checking out. Example would be infamous. Looks pretty fun, and would probably enjoy on a PC.

The question should be - is this game even worth the effort of making these apps and patches? No matter how much you try to pretty it up,crap is crap,it still stinks in the end.

Thats nice that the community is willing to clean up the mess Crytek made, and fuck Crytek for not include this in the first place.

It's not about liking the game or not. After the community fixes it, if they can, it will prolly be a decent game imo.
It is about companies trying to shovel us crap deserving to fail at doing so. It's not that I don't want as many games as possible out there on the PC, port or not. It is that if they are going to ship a game with so little regard for the PC, why bother? Why try to sell us shit on a stick knowing it will damage your reputation? Why not actually put a handful of people on it and make it look/work like a PC game? If it is worth so little in profits to bother, why bother at all?

Our opinions just differ. I can't bring myself to bother if with their game if Crytek can not bother to port their game properly for the PC.

The modders just farted on Crytek :D

haha, gave me a quick laugh there. :p

anyway, at least someone made the application. gotta love the pc gaming community for doing things like this. I'd probably check it out whenever I do get Crysis 2. (too expensive for me atm)

If no one cared, why are we having a discussion about a external application that is used to set those advanced graphics options?

Had to use the same type of application for MW2 as well. So yeah people do care.

I use advanced settings to turn off eye candy crap that does nothing but annoy me, like motion blur, a very annoying graphic setting that just needs to go burn in hell. I also use it to change the FOV so i can see more of the game.

Man, why is everyone just jumping at the chance to shit on this game? Have you played it? Did you compare the console vs PC gameplay to make these statements?

No wonder developers are moving to consoles.

http://www.bit-tech.net/gaming/2011/03/25/crysis-2-xbox-360-vs-pc-comparison/1

There is no comparison between the two.

There is no comparison, but honestly to the lay eye, there also isnt enough of a difference that the 360 player is going to feel majorly left out even up against the PC extreme.

Lots of games have settings that can only be edited via the config. This is hardly a new development in PC gaming.

I say they make a patch to update the original Crysis games to DX11, then take their console port and... well you know.

I think I'm getting pretty close to finishing Crysis 1. I've been working on it for about 2 years now...I'm at the part where you fight the bad guys in the jungle.
