Crysis 2 Advanced Graphics Options Application

Thats what happens when you spend more time on testing the console version.

Nice. Pretty sad that the community has to fix a game to give it features and options which it should have had from the beginning.

You're talking about menu settings right ? Because what this tool does is just change the cfg files with existing engine console commands. So those options are in the game. They just don't have a menu attached to them, which is indeed a shame.

This is one nice thing about PC gaming.

For the most part the community will fix whatever the developer did not add, to lazy to add, to clueless to add to the game.

Usually whiten the first week of release.

They can't fix game play and some graphical issues though. On that note if Crysis 2 isn't any good the community can't really fix it. Especially not with most games now being locked down to the point where modding them becomes nearly impossible.

Damn you Crytek. Releasing a good game like crysis then this half ass piece of garbage that is Crysis 2. While I was eagerly awaiting this I will wait to buy it used so I don't have to support you directly.

This is what happens in a console port,
consoles don't need/get to pick their graphics options as it's one size fits all.

What's sad is I just OC'd my system and purchased a new AMD 6870 just to be able to play it on high with some AA. Not just for this game but for other DX11 games coming out this year.

I hate that people are willing to pay $60 for console games with watered down graphics and controls, cuz that's what we pc gamers are stuck with now. :(

Yet another example of looking at the past in rose colored glasses. Crysis 1 was hardly a good game if you consider Crysis 2 a piece of garbage. Crysis 1 was a pretty standard checkpoint shooter where you go from point to point killing stuff.

I'm just curious to see if hardware review sites will start using Crysis 2 for reviewing video cards.

I actually thought Crysis MP was pretty damn good; it just never seemed to have many populated servers. The maps also seemed a bit TOO big for the number of players; the action was a bit sparse at times.

Crysis single player, while awesome graphically and pretty fun, wasn't anything earth shattering. However I would definitely say it was on the better side of the bell curve. Hmm I just realized I got a new video card and didn't run through Crysis... :p

The multiplayer demo felt like CoD with Nanosuits.

OMG game hacking! This is not how Crysis 2 is "intended to be".

Crytek: "We use the same the business standards from the COD creators, 'You play our game our way or the highway!' so we can reap in millions of $$$ for an unfinished product."

I mentioned Crysis 2 to my 13 year old son (he has Crysis on his PC) and asked what he thought about it; "It's an EA game dad, not interested- their support is horrible".

Now I know why.

Is the link working for everyone else? I keep getting a we can't find the specified page error in chrome.

They just don't have a menu attached to them, which is indeed a shame.
It woulda been a nice convenience, but how often do you think you'd use it? There was probably a discussion like this:

Marketing: "Do we put X amount of hours into making an in-game menu to change graphic settings in real-time, just to please the 10% of PC gamers who might find that convenient, or just let those advanced gamers edit the cfg file on their own, as they are probably smart enough, and patience enough, to figure it out?"

Director: "Let's go with not putting it in. We have a deadline to meet and we should try to focus on the majority of our target audience."

Another point: I don't know if these graphic settings can be changed real-time, but if they can't then it's allot of extra hours, and possibly deeper engine programming, to make that possible.

All I'm saying is, I can understand why they decided not to put the menu in-game...

Crysis 1 engine has higher fidelity. Plus, at least it had DX10.
Not like we have DX11 now or anything. Oh wait...

They were are not thinking that far ahead, it was all about bring the game to consoles. Period.

I just find it funny that crysis 1 had 64bit and dx10 support, granted we had to wait a little for the 64bit binary but then they take a step back and only relase with dx9, i mean hell would it have been soo bad to at least make it for dx10?

Wait, WHAT? They're running with Extreme settings at 5760x1080 with no AA? Of course the 590 is winning. However, according to [H]'s review, the 6990 ought to pull ahead when AA is added due to the huge increase in memory requirements. Thank you [H] for actually looking for the best image quality - 2xAA is with lower settings is far better than no AA at extreme settings according to most people.

Not necessarily,at this resolution. And I really doubt [H] will ever use this game in testing.

I rather boringly doubt that the entire development staff failed to even consider an in-game menu for PC gamers. Some of the PC programmers are probably upset that didn't get into the final product, for example, they can't all be careless jerks like so many here are painting them as.

AA at such hi resolution is kind of useless and hardly noticeable, especially if you're some fast pace action FPS game unless you the eye sight of a freakin eagle.

Yeah, probably this. The PC programmers probably wanted to make it awesome but some cooporate dickhead who only knows consoles =$$$ and nothing of Crytek's fan base headed off any of their suggestions to make a game people actually want to play :p hahah

Pretty obvious you've never played anything at super high res. AA is rarely needed at super high res.

If this is the future of PC gaming, I'm not impressed...thanks, Micro$oft, for making the X-Box...NOT!!!

The game compannies are going to continue to release P.O.S not ready products until the end users stop buying their crap. They have determined that hype sells more games than the actual product, so why bother to produce a good game. Deadlines are what counts not the quality of product. Then they wonder why so many people pirate their games, or go and sell their game to a used game place so they can buy a game that is worth a damn.

I have to admit that I enjoyed the Crysis 1 and Warhead. So far I am about an hour and a half into Crysis 2 and I am enjoying it so far. I am very disappointed that they have released it using DX9 graphics. It looks really good for DX9, but we are at DX11 levels now, that seams a bit lazy. I understand they wanted to get it released within a certain timetable, and consoles played a major part in that decision. I think most of us PC gamers would have happily waited if Crytek came out and said, "we have released the console versions. Sorry for the delay to PC, but we would like it to be released with the full proper support that it deserves."
