I've only seen a couple half-assed reviews on the net of this. What I really want to know is, how big of a performance improvement will adding another 3870 bring on a P35 motherboard (which, I believe uses a 16x/4x configuration for the PCI-e slots).

Anybody have some good info on this?

There hasnt been many Crossifire articals wrote lately, but here is an old article from Anandtech comparing P35 to 975 mobo with a set of HD2900. With the launch of the 790FX chipset and the HD3000 series we should ge a bunch of articles. Brent said that he is working on one, what it will include not sure.

I would love to know this too. Nothing has satisfactorily explained to me how much of a detriment that 4x limitation actually is for P35 boards doing crossfire.

Thanks. I saw that Anandtech article, but they used Vista 64 bit! Not sure how Crossfire performance has matured on 64b Vista at this point. Also, not sure if ASUS CGI or whatever that's supposed to be optimized for Crossfire impacts the results.

Crossfire works exactly the same under Vista 32 and 64, honestly Vista 64 isnt like XP64

Not sure on the P35 boards, but here is a P38 board.
