What's all this, not a dongle in sight. Standard cards as well?

Not to mention they're using two standard cards, not a crossfire edition card. Looks like bullshit.

Only one of those cards output it's frames to the screen.....

Only thing this hacked CF would be usefull for is benchmarking

I don't. The quality of the work shows that the person who did it is no idiot.
The clean solder jobs and the non-conductive tape shows a bit of class act.

However, the Spartan on there also appears to be reprogrammable......I smell opportunity.

I read a few months ago when xfire was intruduced that its possible to run crossfire without a dongle, but the monitor will only display the rendering from one card, so it only inflates benchs scores.

Now in theory ATI could release drivers that can support Xfire without the need of a master card but performance will most probably be slower, for example, you can run any a couple of 6800 gt is SLI mode without the SLI connector but performance drops like 20% or so. Maybe having 2 x16 slots instead of 2 x8 can overcome that limitation.

What's Hacked on that setup is the powersupply! PINK! I want one!

Moose Edit: Name calling will not be tolerated. See you in 3 days.

cool, but completely worthless as everyone else mentioned, it DOESN'T display the output from the 2nd card. You might as well run your benches/games with your monitor off and brag about how cool the black screen looks.

At least the "SLI" hack (no SLI connector) still displays the frames. Just subpar performance.

Yeah that HKPC on there looks totally fake

jk

But I think you're right because the chip doesn't seem to line up with the tracings on the card.
Put me down for a vote for "fake"

lol

very fake the chip over hangs thew white outline by far, shadow doesnt seem right either.

Could they have just put 2 Ati cards in a Sli mobo? With a pic of the crossfire menu photoshopped in and then run 3dmark05 with the 850xt? I guess thats really the only way they could have done it.

Well the setup looks real enough. I rememebr seeing that some where on an ATI site. However the "screenshot" is not what is actually on the monitor in the "setup" pic. The windows seem to be lined up the same, but if you follow the lines of text in each window, you see that not all of it lines up to what you can see on the monitor in the pic. Not to mention that the Catalyst Control center in the screenshot lists the connected monitor as "VP211b", which is a ViewSonic 21" LCD. The monitor in the setup pic is a CRT monitor (looks like HP).

Just my 2 cents...

uhh that is a photoshoped pic

orginal one has some weird coding going on in the background......not a windowsxp screen

and i think the photoshoped hte dongle out of that.....

its all fake
