Creepy Talking Robot Head

Robotics engineers at the University of Bristol have developed a rather creepy talking head that can mimic facial expressions. The facial expressions aren’t that good yet but the work that went into this thing is extremely impressive. I thought this speech was entertaining:
 
Interesting speech. Kinda makes some good points.

Anyway, it is always cool to see how close scientists are getting to mimicking human mannerisms.

There is still so much ground to make up. I think it is in the eyes. I have been watching the eyes a lot lately in games like Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3 and this seems to be the point where these games fall apart.

Better eye contact would make these simulations (Games, Robots, etc) more believable.

Terminator, here we come! Save us John Connor!
 
I just hade a vision of this head being bundled with Vista for reporting to users about appCrushes and UAC messages.

Is it me, or does everyone in Far Cry 2 look like they are squinting?

In games and in this robot, the biggest problem I see is emotion. They just aren't forceful enough when they speak, when you are shouting, you really open your moth and shake your head faster, in robots and in games everything seems numbed down and calmer (when they shouldn't be).
 
Wow, I so misread this title... I read creepy robot giving head.
 
Evil rant notwithstanding, anyone else thinks it sounds eerily like C3P0? Intonation-wise and stuff...
 
And my co-workers thought I was nuts for wanting to buy an Asimo, paint him in cammo, and have him march back and forth in front of my house with an assault rifle.
 
Now if they could make a female version of that head and slap it on a Real Doll, we'd all be set and ready to go ! LOL :cool:
 
I'm sure SomeCallMeTim would want something like this hidden near his front lawn. Once triggered the bodiless head would pop-up and yell:

"Damn kids! Get off my lawn!"
