i plan on getting the creative audigy zs soundcard. im also getting speakers with it. im only limited to ~60 dollars to spend on speakers so heres what i want.creative T5400
creative t5800 logitec x-530

so guys please help me choose! thanks

NEWEGG IS SOLD OUT OF THE CREATIVE T5400! so its P5800 VS the X-530!!
 
I think i would go with the creatives. mainly because of the different size speakers in the satelittes for a broader range of sound. It also comes with a remote. heck, i might even pick some of these up :p

Well first of all i got the Logitech X-530, and what can i say, its good, the bass is awesone the good thing is that it has the head phone jack in the wrong, and its all satellite it lets you put it up on the wall easily.
 
I would easily go for the logitech z5300 hands down.

The Creative Inspire has a pretty weak subwoofer - you will easily find out that it isnt so much a subwoofer as much as a regular bookshelf speaker in that it really cant belt out any bass in an acceptable spl level. It will distort if pushed beyond its limits, only problem is... the limits are well within reach if you like to play you music any where sort of loud (90db+).

The z530 has nice satellites - especially with those dual 2" woofers but its sub is also a little lacking. It has better mids than the creatives, but the creatives have better highs. The subwoofer is about the same, in terms of level of performance.

My recommendation is to go with the z5300... I've never seen it at this price, and probably never will again. At 79$, I would be stupid to go with the other ones, unless I really had no financial ability to do so... then its a tossup with the logitech x530 and the inspires. The z5300 has a much much better sub than the two - it actually sounds like a sub. The satellites have a higher quality woofer with an actual phase plug. The overall system sounds more balanced and has better substance overall. I would gladly pay $200 for this system... at under $80, it is definitely a steal. :)
 
I have yet to hear any nice speakers from Creative. But then again, I don't like computer speakers in general.
 
sorry guys. i only wish i can get the z5300. i only have 110-120 to spend and the rest is going into car detailing supplies. i dont want something that can rock the whole house. so, its going to be CREATIVE Inspire T5400 VS Logitech X-530 VS CREATIVE Inspire 5800 only. thanks anyways.

so you guys are saying that the Logitec Z-5300E can blow both the creative P5800 and logitec x-530 out of the water? hmm for 20 dollars more eh?. how long does it take them to ship and are they reliable?

edit: ohh shit..the shipping on that site for the Z-5300E is freaking 40 dollars!! its going to add up to 120! no way, thats too much. back to the Creative P5800 VS logitec X-350 now :(
 
whats the difference between the P5800 and T5400? i see that everything is the same expect the center speaker on the T5400 is 20watts instead of the 18watts on the P5800? so that means the T5400 is better? so how would they compared agaisnt the logictec x-350?
 
awhh man its still going to be way over my limit. ill think about it. continue on with the T5400 VS P5800 VS logitec x-530 while i think!!

I would suggest that you find some place near you that has them and go listen to them.....

Don't get a surround rig. At this price level, 2.1 speakers are a much better bet.

i already have 2.1 im looking for something more w/o putting a hole through my wallet. i just found out the T5400 was sold out. now its only the x-350 and p5800
 
For me, the object of an audio upgrade is more quality sound, not more quantity of speakers. If this is your goal too, then you would be better served by going 2.1. Maybe you could sell your old speakers and use the funds toward the new ones?
 
my old POS 2.1s were no name brand. i just want something to sound better and have the ability to play 5.1. i dont need super high quality sound like klipsch, i just need something that is decent. so what i want is either a P5800 or a X-350, there both the same price and i want to know which one is better.
 
I recently did some quick and dirty research on the exact speakers you're looking at. I needed a cheapie set for a secondary rig and didn't want to spend more than $70ish

Every review or comparison kept saying the 5400's were better than the x-530 in every respect except bass. So i got the 5400's, are they good for computer speakers? I guess at their pricepoint they are, but they truly sound like garbage compared to even a mid-level 2.1 stereo. Honestly, i'd try to take madclown's advice and get a mid-level 2.1 setup.

damnit. they sold out of T5400, they have the P5800 though which is the same i think but the center channel is 18watts instead of 20watts. i guess its P5800 VS the X-530?
 
May as well go for the x-530's since the 5800's don't have the tweeters that the 5400's have, negating their major advantage (the high's).

Sure you can't swing the logitech z5300e? check out this thread in the hot deals forum before you decide. There's links to 6 or 7 z5300e deals in there, some better, some worse. Pretty sure amazon has the current best price @ $94 shipped after a $50 rebate.
 
I agree that perhaps you should look into 2.1 speakers instead. I tested some Creatives next to some Logitechs in a Best Buy, and Creative blew Logitech out of the water, hands down. I am the proud owner of some Creative I-Trigue 3300's, and tested next to some Logitechs in the same price range, there was no comparison. They're at Newegg right now for $80, that and there is a little $20 mail-in rebate if you want to go that route. These speakers have some of the best bass out of all of the speakers in this range that I have tested. Creative's
 
i dont know. because i have a 120 dolar limit. i was planning on getting the audigy 2 zs too. unless someone finds me a decent soundcard (something thats a hell lot better than soundblaster and onboard crap) so i can get the z5300e!! help me guys!!
edit: please no more 2.1 reccomendations. im looking for 5.1 and up only but thanks anyways.

Either this or misterX's suggestion. Gamingwise, supposedly the Value and ZS sound the same ;)

The z5300e would cost about $140-$150 out of pocket, $50 to come later in the mail.

Audigy 2 sounds (IMO, much) better than the Audigy 1. Unless you need the extra inputs/outputs, go for the A2.

Edit: Well, since you're just talking about the non-platinum versions now, Audigy 2 is the one to get.
 
I can't say from personal experience but, people who have owned both always prefer the audigy2.

They claim it sounds better (?)

well i'm kinda quibbling over minor details but, there are good merchants that sell the audigy2 value for around $45 shipped (new). You wouldn't have to deal with rebates that way.

That audigy2 6.1 that we talked about above has a few extra minor features and could be bought at ebay for around $43 shipped (refurbished, warrantied and re-sold by creative).

BTW, with shipping figured in that card at newegg is actually $45 shipped AR,

Otherwise it looks like you're all set :)

alright, but you shouldve read the last posts before you posted this. anyways, im eitehr getting the refurbished audigy 2 zs or just freaking order the value in newegg so both the card adn the speakers arrive together (cause no one beats newegg shipping :D ).
 
i just got my audigy 2 zs today. i chose the retail one at my local compter store(it wasnt that expensive. only 85 plus tax). i absolutely love the x-530 with the audigy 2 zs! it can almost take on my Infinity set up in my living room (almost :) ). i was really suprised that changing the soundcard from my POS dumpster cmedia 6 ch cardto the audigy 2 zs could make that big of a difference :eek: !
but there is one thing that i dont understand. ive set everything the way i wanting in the THX Setup Console (distance/angle from the speakers) i played a game. after playing the game though, everything in the THX setup console calabriation resets back to default :confused: . same goes with the Surround mixer advance settings for the speakers (the volume for each channel). thanks
 
They fixed that problem like 6 months ago......... update the drivers and apps
