With my gear in my sig, I upped the BIOS voltage to 1.45v. CPU-z shows it as 1.213 or near. Is this accurate? If so, that's a hell of a vdroop.

So can I bump the BIOS to 1.5+ if I am infact losing that much voltage?

Trying to get her to 3.5 stable for shits and giggles, if not 3.6.

Thanks all.

I dont think it is accurate. My board does about the same thing. 1.375 set in the bios and CPU-z reads 1.328 at idle which is very (suspiciously) close to my stock Vid of 1.325 per the Intel box the CPU came in. I think that is the Vid my cpu is requesting from the voltage regulator due to the OC but the bios is over-riding that. Something is fishy with cpu-z as you noted.

(CPU-z has a history of not reading voltage correctly it used to be called Vid in earlier versions )

When I kick TAT in at 80% load on both cores CPU-z reports 1.312 for a Vdrop of .016V, not unexpectedly high.

Now EasyTune, the Gigabyte utility I absolutely hate for reasons I can not seem to explain. It reads 1.370 steady Anyway it seems more in line with what is set in the bios. /shudder. /shrug.

Kicking in TAT with Easytune drops the Vcore to 1.360 and jumps occasionaly back to 1.370 (making me think the 3rd decimal place is no really being used.

Anyway Easytune seems more in line with reality but my conclusion is that neither utility gives a good idea and next time I have the board out I am soldering a short length of sheilded cable to one of the Vcc and Vss socket pins on the backof the socket.

I dont trust any of it as they all try to read it different ways. Speedfan reports 1.33 as Vcore so I think its doing the same thing cpu-z is.

I would not go much over 1.45 in the bios. Just my opinion. Its your stuff.

same here asus probe reads my vcore correctly cpu-z always reads it lower on every version i have tried.

obove 1.45v is really pushing the safe limits on air cooling if u were using water or some extreme cooling method maybe but its your stuff just beware of it.
