CPU temps on OC

Hi Everyone,
I had a quick question. I just built a rig for my sister with a Gigabyte EP45-UD3LR motherboard. I put my old C2D E6420 in it and used EasyTune6 to OC the CPU to 3.2 GHz from 2.13.
I ran prime95 stress test for 2.5 hours with no errrors. When I checked the hardware monitor during the stress test; the CPU temp peaked at 56 degree Celsius. Is this temperature ok for the CPU. This is actually the first time I've bothered to OC so I'm not to familiar with the temps :D She does some gaming; WoW and some FPS and older games like diablo 2. So she won't need anything crazy. Right now the temp shows about 28 and gets up to 31 deg Celsius. Just wanted to see if those temps are ok before I drive this up to her in another state.

Thanks a bunch.

56C under stress is just fine. CPU will not even brake a sweat till 100C and most of us just to be conservative set a personal limit somewhere around 70C because while the CPU is not in distress in the 70C-99C region the higher temps can limit OCing.

My major concern is that it is the video card that typically overheats. I would be looping something like 3D mark or just play the hell out of one of her games for an hour or two in a warm room to ensure that as much as you enjoy seeing her, you are not returning sooner than you expected to deal with the computer.

So your CPU temp under load is just fine. Check it under load AND with some 3D exercising the video card
