cpu/mobo cheap combo for gaming

That looks good to me as long as you do not mind having an mATX board as there is less expansion slots then a ATX board.
 
What do you want out of a computer? are you the sort of person who runs at stock or near stock with no expansion cards or are you the kind of person who loads up lots of cards over time and wants to get as high an overclock as possible? How many GPUs do you plan to have?
 
i plan on 1 gpu, not much expansion (actually have very little idea what that means other than adding more ram chips or dualgpu). new to the PC stuff, so not planning on overclocking yet since i do not know much about it right now.

i just wanted to run a comp at decent speeds, open programs decent speeds, multitask, browse web (firefox is memhungry) and play some games at respectable speeds.
 
The 2500K is meant for overclocking, so you are pay a small premium in order to do so. To be honest its a good chip to start overclocking with, its cheap and if you want to learn I recommend sticking with that.
