I'm lookign to build a server mostly for storing / streaming media files. The Athlon X4 630 is $70 (OEM) and the Sandy Bridge Pentium G620 is $65 (Retail). The Pentium uses less power but I'm thinking the quad core may be better for a server. Then there's also the issue with chipsets. Does one chipset work better than the other for server OS's? I could also go with the X2 215 for $33 if that's all I need. Thanks.

One chipset doesn't really work better than another when it comes to servers unless you're talking Linux. You'll be fine with that $33 CPU. But if you want to spend the extra cash, then I recommend the Intel.
