CPU 'downgrade' - system won't boot

Hi,

I've installed a core i3-540 in an acer aspire x3950 (had i3-550 before) and now the system won't boot. Well, it boot's but I see nothing on the screen and I don't hear the hard drive is booting into Windows. Video output is the integrated graphics.

Any help would be appreciated.
 
Does the motherboard have the latest BIOS?

Did you double check and make sure you didn't bend any pins in the CPU socket?

Have you tried clearing the BIOS?

I don't know if it's the latest BIOS (I think I once checked and it was but not sure).
No, i didn't bend any pins. I already cleared CMOS and didn't solve the problem :(
 
I'd double check to see if that CPU is supported by the bios. Since it's an Acer, it might not have broad CPU support like you'd think.
 
The system finnaly booted !!

I removed and reinstalled the cpu and changed the ram in another slot. Don't know where the problem could have been..
