CPU Battle (AMD VS AMD)

Both me and my dad were discussing CPU over clocking, and what is the difference in performance between lets say a Barton running at 2.5 and an Opteron running at 2.5.

When we were both doing 3Dmark scoring, I ran my CPU at 2.2 and got a score then ran it again but upped my CPU to 2.5 and took that score and figured out how much of a difference in scoring was and how many points you got for each 100 MHz, at the same time my dad running a Opteron at 2.7 did the CPU test and I was able to predict his score (Within 20 or so points) before the test was over just from the math that I did between mine. I am sorry but I can not remember the exact numbers right now.

So this got us thinking that if you can run a Opteron at 2.5 and a Barton (Mobile) at 2.5 you should not see much of a difference at all between the two.

At the time of the testing we were running:

DFI LanParty + Opteron 148 + Sapphire X850 XT + 2 GIGS OCZ 3200 3-3-3-8
Asus A7N8X + Barton Mobile + Sapphire X800 XT + 1 GIG Corsair 3200 2.5-2-2-6

I am wondering if someone can shed some light on the subject.

Run something more CPU intensive and you'll probably notice the difference in the CPU's. Since you are running (basically) the same videocards with a 3D test, of course you'll see similiar numbers.

Try ripping a DVD with the Opty VS. the Barton and I'm quite positive the Opty will smoke it.
