Both me and my dad were discussing CPU over clocking, and what is the difference in performance between lets say a Barton running at 2.5 and an Opteron running at 2.5.
When we were both doing 3Dmark scoring, I ran my CPU at 2.2 and got a score then ran it again but upped my CPU to 2.5 and took that score and figured out how much of a difference in scoring was and how many points you got for each 100 MHz, at the same time my dad running a Opteron at 2.7 did the CPU test and I was able to predict his score (Within 20 or so points) before the test was over just from the math that I did between mine. I am sorry but I can not remember the exact numbers right now.
So this got us thinking that if you can run a Opteron at 2.5 and a Barton (Mobile) at 2.5 you should not see much of a difference at all between the two.
At the time of the testing we were running:
DFI LanParty + Opteron 148 + Sapphire X850 XT + 2 GIGS OCZ 3200 3-3-3-8
Asus A7N8X + Barton Mobile + Sapphire X800 XT + 1 GIG Corsair 3200 2.5-2-2-6
I am wondering if someone can shed some light on the subject.
