CPU and Windows stickers

I have a dell inspiron 1150 Laptop that has a few scratches and such, and I'm trying to make it look nice. The P4 sticker and "Designed for windows" sticker are old and worn. Can I safely pull them of or should I do somthing to them first?
 
I know it's easy when they're new, but with them being on there for a while it may not turn out to be so easy.
 
Have you tried rubbing it off with your finger? Hopefully it will ball up and come off.
 
Oh, I think to complicated and jump by the simple solutions, I'll try it out.
 
glob some vaseline on it and let it sit for a few hours usually helps.

-_- only exception is the stickers for my school parking pass. I use nail polish remover to melt that gunk off... horrible >_<

go to wallymart and get some goo gone, it works the best for taking off stickers

I concur, goo gone works wonders.
 
Lighter fluid (naptha) works for taking stickers/glue off almost anything and doesn't harm most surfaces. Cheaper than goo-gone, too. YMMV
 
Goo Gone. Or suggest sticker removal via tongue for Fear Factor.
 
goo gone is great but if you don't have any handy.. I find that car wax works pretty well.
 
Yeah, lighter fluid has the same effect as goo gone as well.

someone once told be if you let peanut butter sit on it for a while it will take the glue off..something with the oil in it..
 
I have a luge I built, spraypainted black. After lubing the wheels and leaving it unused for a week, the WD40 had actually eaten the paint off the metal. So WD40 is a good option. Just be sure to wipe it all off, so you don't have the greasy feel from it. Personally, I would rather use the previously-mentioned Goo-Gone from Wal-mart. I have a citrus-based version of Goo-Gone with no petroleum products in it, so it cannot damage any paints or anything or that sort. Either way you go, it will work. Or you could use your tongue :p Can't say that method would work well, though...

Until someone does it to your car, then it won't be so funny.
 
my wife is the official sticker-peeler-offer in our house, and while we have Goo Gone and some other tougher solutions, she tends to use the ol' "use the sticker itself to peel up the rest of the residue method", where you just keep resticking the thing down and then peeling it up, each time peeling away more and more of the gunk. if you've already tossed the stickers, this may not help. tape might do the trick too.

in any even, don't sweat it. your laptop should stand up to most of the commercial adhesive-remover solvents; just work quickly and be sure to clean up with a light detergent and water after the residue is gone (sparingly, of course!).
