CPU and Northbridge cooler compatibility

I just picked up a G33-DS2R and am looking at air cooling a Q6600. I also remember from my old DS3 rev. 1 days that the northbridge got pretty hot on it and could limit OC's, so I'm looking at potentially swapping out the chipset cooler also, since the G33 cooler looks identical to the old DS3 one.

So, I've been looking at high end tower coolers like the Ultra-120 and the Tuniq Tower, and it looks like they would interfere with aftermarket northbridge coolers. Anyone else run into this problem? Any suggestions on HSF's that play nicely together?

My brother has an thermalright 120 extreme and an hr-05sli i believe? Which is just a massive passive cooler for nb/sb. He had that setup in his 680i with an 8800gts with no issues.
