Couple QUick Questions (first build)

Ok so i have an external DVD drive. I can see the drive in device manager but it doesnt show on my computer and disks wont load from it
Drive is an LG drive (already checked online for drivers but LG's sight didnt have any)

second i have a scanner printer. i installed the drivers and went to scan but i got an error message that said Scanner not warmed up. and the scanner is showing no sign of activity.
printer is an epson NX415
 
It would help us to know which OS you're using as well as the model number to the external DVD drive.

If you're downloading drivers for multifunction printers (with scan/copy capabilities), oftentimes the printer and scanner drivers are separate downloads. You may have to find and download the scanner driver in order for the NX415 to function correctly.

the printer diver was a package will all of them

drive is a LG GSA2166D
 
You may need to search online, using Google or Bing, for drivers to the LG external drive.

As for the driver package, you may need to uninstall the drivers and reinstall them.
 
Ok so the only "drivers" for the external drive are a firmware update.

i downloaded the update but when i went to install it, it could no find the drive.

the computer clearly sees the drive because it shows up in device manager, but how do i get the computer to be able to use

Go to "Control Panel" => double click "Administrative Tools" => double click "Computer Management" => Select "Disk Management" => See if the DVD drive shows up there.

If it does, right click on it and assign it a Drive letter.
 
ok i doesnt show up in disk management.... how do i get it to show up there?

and now ive run into a new problem... windows media player wont play dvds. itunes wont even let me open the dvd in it and i installed the LG dvd player and it will play the dvd without sound
 
Wait, ok, what DVD drive are you using right now to play back the DVD? Is it that external LG drive or an internal DVD drive?

the dvd is through the internal one.

and the exterior drive is older. it was given to me by someone about 3 months ago. i think he had it for a year.

but im not getting why:
1. media player wont even load dvds
2. the LG dvd player doesnt have sound on the DVD
3. itunes wont even open the dvd
4. the external drive only shows up on device manager but nowhere else
 
TBH, I don't understand why either. The only thing I can think of is a either a faulty DVD drive or corrupted OS install.

Try using VLC media player(google and download it) and see if it plays DVDs.

Wait, what DVD are you trying to play?
 
first it was district nine, then family guy blue harvest then harry potter 6.

imma check vlc media player
 
ok VLC works fully. sound and dvd

but i want to know why the others dont work... lol

Messed up codec install more than likely if that LG DVD player software was installed at when you played back the DVD in WMP.
