Counter Strike for Noobs

Well, from what i've been reading, in order to play the game properly you need to have some indepth knowledge on the console commands. From what i've read in the steam forums, they have people suggesting all sorts of configuration to compensate for the lag. Even the one Met-AL is referring to can be affected by entering a command in the console. Atleast that's what the guy in the thread said after he called the guy complaining a noob.

You can try asking the people at the steam forums but you'll find a lot of people like Met-AL in there. So going there with your problems hoping for a fix is a bad idea. You'll probably even get banned for finding a bug.

If you guys like to play me.... in FY_ICEWORLD_ARENA I am here often so come in and Hola!

It is one of the simplest, yet most difficult games you will ever play.

Some good tips I have come to follow:

Subguns have the least recoil with the highest chance of a hit for new players, the MP5 and P90 seem to be the most "noob" friendly.

Shotguns are great for one shot kills, especially at close range, but never rush with one until you are an excellent shot.

Hug walls and corners as much as possible, always try to "peek" around corners to keep from walking in to an ambush. Walk slowly to keep from making a sound.

Grenades are not that effective, but are great to disorient people if they are grouped together.

Use sound as your ally, footsteps are easily heard.

Grenades are not that effective? Have you seen a succesful nade stacked? They are funny ass hell when you catch a team with one on a save round and basically get free guns. My HLSW was being retarded and I didn't catch it but we had one the most awesome nade stacks I ever seen on nuke this week for my clan.

Out of cash so we are on a save round. The clan kept pushing inside, I called a nade stack through hut to try and kill/wound as many possible. Once round started and we were heading to mini garage to toss them in. We see one guy come around boxes on red rock from T-Side all 5 of us turn, let them fly that way, killing 4 guys with nade stack and then usping the last one to death. IT was amazingly funny. I wish HLTV was recording for that ><

I only started to play Counter Strike: Source a few days ago, and I think I did pretty good for my first try.

The first this I did was join an empty server to get used to the controls, recoil, weapon macros, etc. I did 19 - 6 and 5 - 0 in the games I played my first day (just a little bragging, although one team I was on bitched about me not planting the bomb when I picked it up, even though I cycled through my weapons. Don't know what happened there. )

Some tips:
Follow your team. If everyones trying to take bombsite A, don't go camping in a corner. You should know where you're supposed to be.

Try out different weapons, and learn how to buy them without using your mouse. For instance, I usually press B - 3 - B - 4 - B - 6 - B - 7 before any match without even thinking about it.

Keep moving. If you're every caught in a firefight, you will only be an easier target. If you want to increase your accuracy, duck or use the walk key and strafe, but watch out if your opponent has a sniper. Boom! Headshot, anyone? ;) Standing still is only good if your enemies don't know you're there.

Short movie with a few scenes of some of my better rounds.

1- Learn the maps
2- ALWAYS aim at the neck of characters, ALWAYS. Even if your spray starts going in circles, you will hit something, most likely the head.

use the pump shotty. its difficult at first but once you get the hang of it, it's easy and fun to use, and most of the time you get a headshot :p

Yea it is pretty fun, shotty in cod2 is even better!! So fun.

Generally good console commands detailed below. However, this addresses the "hitbox lag" issue as well.

cl_smooth 0
cl_interpolate 0
cl_interp (use your ping divided by 100)

This will remove the hitbox lag that people are always complaining about. This forces off the predictions that the default cs server will use to try to smooth out player movement...but this is also what causes a lag in the hitbox.

well play the game.camper strike. Just hide behind a crate and wait for somoneto walk by and shot them in the back!!!! Thats how most anyone plays..... god i hate that game. * goes back to playing Unreal 2004* ROAD KILL

If you don't like the game then why come in the thread? There are more people playing CS than almost every other FPS (most of them combined). There is no game that everyone likes. There is no game that 100's of people don't think is a piece of shit. Those of us who enjoy CS are perfectly aware that many people don't like it...and we don't care.
