Check ATI's site for count down of NDA expiration. Its funny, some guys over at Extreme Overclocking Forums found that if you change your system clock beyond the day that the NDA expires it says "Radeon X1K - Enter a New World of Visual Velocity". One guy has a screen shot in his post. Thought that was pretty cool.

LOL...yeah what is with all the hype?

I am still not conviced that ATI is going to make a huge showing this time around. They are not really focusing on the top at this time as much as Nvidia is.

begin the 20 pages trying to decipher the D/T RIDEL!!!!!1
All that is is the equation for Velocity, and since it turns into Enter a New World of Visual Velocity it really doesn't mean anything.

LOL...one guy sum'd it up in the other forum...

Distance/Time = Velocity....think of how far theyve come with all the time theyve had, should make them pretty fast? :D

we definitly need at least 20 pages to figure it out

It is all just marketing B.S. just give us the damn card so we can bench it already!

No dumber than the whole "Power of 3" bullshit. :p
it's way better than the power of 3 crap, this is a countdown to something new. That was just a countdown to 3 things that already existed and nvidia offered nothing except a banner on their website that said "power of 3"

Isn't it Displacement/Time = Velocity?
Distance/Time = Average Speed

Eh, average speed or average velocity. The thing with velocity, however, is that it is both the speed AND the direction =D.

only 38483828329days left! WEEEEE!

j/k, I had too... Hope its a good card, as SLI isnt happenin for me, and ill be upgradeing my 6800gt soon... I can only afford one card...

NDA removal timer? That's cool but where does it say NDA lifting timer? It doesnt...

Also, it's just the velocity equation :).

I don't think it's late. It's just that ATI's scheduled launch is just always after Nvidia's.

You are correct, it does in fact mean average velocity. LMAO
I guess the message is to expect the average. :p

Really....so if everyone on these boards were to start hyping the G80 now (or whatever nvidia's next chip is), and if nVidia were to release it 6 months later just like the launch of the 7800GTX.....by your standards that makes it a paper launch?

Get over yourself. The hype around the R520 was created by the net, not by ATi. I bet ATi would just have assumed have the R520 pop up out of the blue.

You mean like Crossfire. They have been hyping that for months now.

Who thinks this forum would implode if in fact the R520 is faster than the 7800GTX while providing improved IQ?

I just hope we end up with something more than what we got from nvidia's timer.

That one sucked. Plain and simple. It was horrible.

Sure SM3.0 and HDR are great, but they were out long, long ago. :p

im sure the r520 will be faster than the GTX, as I should be, its a newer card. Thats the way it works. I think once the r520 comes out it will come down to, how many they can get in stock and keep in stock and how much the price will compar to the 7800s.

I wouldnt mind a r520 when I upgrade my 6800GT, but as good as the 7800GTX preformes, the price of the r520 needs to be witheen 50 bux for me to go with it.

Crossfire? SLI? Dosnt mean shit when you cant afford it!

If it isn't better then the 7800gtx... then ATI will officially be ... " suxxorz ", as all the 1337 speak kids would say...

If R520 fails to beat 7800GTX by a healthy margin then it'll be a pretty disastrous product launch IMO. After all, the 7800GTX (NV47/G70) is merely a tweaked NV40 architecture, R520 is a proper next generation part and should be superior. It's been 17 months since the launch of the X8-series generation and if R520 isn't at least twice as fast as the previous generation then I won't be too impressed. I'm sure there's a ton of people out there who will buy it even if it's barely faster than 7800GTX simply because it's an ATi product though.

Personally I want to see ATi release a 7800GTX-killer, I want the competition to continue at full pace. If R520 is only as fast as 7800GTX then we all lose. :(

Cool! So this is the Countdown until the press release where they annouce the R520 has been delayed again. I cant wati!!!!!!11111 zomg!@

You can argue about that. The card was delayed due to yield issue's, it's not newer. Even more, R520 first tape out was earlier than G70's.
Ofcourse they tweaked it here and there, but that was to improve yield issue's.

omg u noob u put a o instead of a 0!!1!!!11~`1@oneoneeleven

on topic - im kind of angry and kind of glad at the same time that the card is taking so long to come out. its the only thing im waiting on before i build a new comp, and the delay means no new comp yet grr, but i'm gonna build a qpack comp, and this delay made it so now theres gonna b the c51 chipsets out. hopefully they're a lot closer to full atx capabilities than the current boards are :D

Define a next generation part? R520 is a lot closer to a core revamping than the 7800GTX is

i guess until crossfire is up and running, it will be a poot moint if the 520 is better performing than the gtx. because you can always get 2 gtx's, or gt's, or whatever it is that nvidia has been holding back until the 520 launch. i hope the 520 does perform better than the gtx, i am always down(yay) for an upgrade.
the more better (betterer?) the 520 is, the more better (bettererer?) the next gen nvids will be. and so on, and so on

enough with the speculation and other nonsense, all this means is that we know when the product launch will occur. Nothing More. Just wait, its less than two weeks, you've all waited months already, two more weeks will not kill any of you, unless you have cancer or something like that in which you have more important things to worry about hehe.

lol I think "betterer" is just a redundance of what you're already saying :D
"the better the 520 is, the better the next gen nvids will be. and so on, and so on" means the same thing, but also makes sense :p

But yeah anyway, interesting countdown. I, like most of the people that can predict the future with our crystal ballz, can only hope that the r520(x1800?) will be better than the gtx for competition.

Knowing ATi, the orignal poster got it right. This is a countdown to the NDA being lifted, which --where ATi is concerned-- does not necessarily coincide with an actual release.

Are you saying Nvidia has never paper launched a product?

who cares if its just a lifting of the nda, at least that means some review sites can actually start posting real benchies, and everyone can stfu about it being worse or better than the 7800gtx.

unless ati's really being evil, and they're like countdown.... until we release our other countdown timer for the nda being lifted! grr
