Corsair P128 Low Performance

I just put a new corsair p128 in my laptop (dell m90) and the peak read is only around 110 and with sequential read only around 95mb/s. Shouldnt it be near twice that?

I did a fresh install of Windows 7 x64 and it works fine, but isnt as fast as I was expecting...TRIM is on if that makes a difference.

Specs are: intel duo t7600 2.33ghz, 4gb ddr2, nvidia 1500m. The mobo chipset is an intel i945pm.

This is my first SSD drive...am I missing something?

If there is a option in the bios to implement ahci you should enable it.
If the sata driver is a Intel one then you can update to the Microsoft ones and see if it helps. your speeds should be in the 250 read and 180 write range give or take a 100 or so
 
There arent any options in the BIOS for ahci, or anything relating to the hard discs for that matter. The driver being used is the microsoft one from 2006. I couldnt find a newer version...

Any other suggestions?
 
What is the southbridge on that laptop?

nm....pretty sure it is ICH7-M which, if that is the case, means thats about the best numbers your gonna get.

Sequential read could be better but....meh.

imho, if your getting an SSD for a laptop, especially an older laptop it should be the Intel so that you can benefit from the higher IOPS which is felt more in normal use.
Newer desktops with the ICH-9 and higher SB can make use of the higher sequential reads in game loading etc. etc. to make it less of a mistake to go with an Indilinx based drive. :)

But hey...at least you don't have an AMD or nVidia chipset. :D

Can you post some random 4K write/read benchmarks? If those look fine then I wouldn't be worried, yea the sequential write/read numbers are low (possibly bottlenecked by the chipset) but it's not gonna matter for anything other than transferring large files to the laptop (and even then the bottleneck's probably gonna be USB 2.0), random read/write numbers are what matters for OS performance.

This drive is so much nicer than the 7200rpm drive I had before. Much much faster and smoother, not to mention no noise which is awesome. I have my desktop (see sig) for anything really demanding. I mainly use my laptop for when I travel, and car tuning.

I figured it might be a chipset limitation but I was hoping it was something else.
