For me a headset is absolutely needed. Living in an Apartment limits how loud I can play my music all by itself. Add on top of that the fact that my wife is often studying in the next room and the baby napping, it makes it very difficult to hear much of anything.
With a good headset I would be able to drown in sound to my hearts content without disturbing my wife, sleeping child or being evicted from traumatizing the neighbors.
Sadly, I have tried a few headsets and have not found one of decent quality in my budget range.
This makes me sad panda, only being able to listen to music while at work with earbuds.
I play in a number of LAN events and have some headphones, but they aren't necessarily the best. I need some headsets that provide better location sound to hear where shots are being fired from, and when people are sneaking up on me in a game. I also live in an apartment building so using headsets at night for all my games, shows, movies, etc. is preferable.
I need to hear my games better because the $5 Target special headphones I have don't really cut it anymore, as there is a short in the cord and they keep cutting out. My old set died.
I need to hear better because I have multiple sound sources going on while gaming. I need to be able to clearly hear friends in Ventrillo and also the contextual sound queues made by the enemy.
So i do love my games, movies and music. I have a nice set of speakers as well. back in the day (lol, I'm 27), I could rock those babies out all i wanted; feeling explosions in my bones, hearing every nuance of the music I listened to, and submerging myself in movies.
Then I got married.
Now, my volume knob never raises above the 1/3rd mark. My games, while graphically great, sonically are distant, movies are shallow, and music carries less punch.
If I had a nice set of headphones; headcans that could re-immerse me in my media, not only would I have fewer volume-related arguments with my wife, but as a result, the very QUALITY of my LIFE would be improved.
Oh goodie!!
I need to hear my games better because Battlefield Bad Company 2's incredible sound needs more accurate and punchier sound reproduction. It just goes to wate without proper headset,
Hope I win. Better headset makes every game more immersive.
I need to hear my games better because when I've got the sound turned down and music playing at the same time I *guess* it would be nice to still be able to pick out the game sounds so that my team isn't whining about it. Alternately, I need to hear my music sounding better while I ignore the game sounds and then type out to people that I can't really hear things.
Well, I don't have even a decent set of headphones, so I use speakers right now. I have a brand new baby girl in the house now, so I need a headset so that I can play without waking her up
So, I don't get evicted from my apartment, from scaring the crap out of my neighbors when I play the new Medal of Honor. When I get home from work at 4am.
