I need a PSU for the following build:

C2D E8400
Asus P5Q P45 Mobo
4GB DDR2-800 RAM
Coolermaster Centurion 590
Hitachi 1TB 7K1000
Recycled DVD-RW drive from my old computer.
8600GT, which may be upgraded to an HD4850/4870/GTX260 in the future

I'm looking for bang for buck and reliability.

I'm thinking one of the following:
BFG Tech ES SERIES ES-800 800W
CORSAIR CMPSU-550VX 550W
CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W
Or perhaps something even cheaper would be good enough?: COOLER MASTER eXtreme RP-500-PCAR 500W

Opinions?

For the price the BFG ES-800 is going for after rebate, it really can't be beat. I'd go with that one.

Definitely the BFG ES-800 for best bang for the buck and reliability. Also, don't bother with the CM Extreme Power PSU since it's actually an overrated (in term of wattage) semi-decent Seventeem 450W PSU.

$69 brand new for a bfg ES800? That's a damn good price. I paid way more for mine :(

danny bui: I don't think the RP500 is the seventeam; that's the 650, though the 500 could be too.

Don't get a Corsair 'cause your video card will probably make it buzz and squeal like a pig. My GTX 260 makes my HX520 and HX620 buzz.

Actually my HX620 is always buzzing softly, but with a game running it's loud, and sometimes the buzzing turns into a squealing and stuff. It's weird (and really annoying).

The only thing I don't like about the BFG is the non-modular design, that is a lot of cables to hide. All in all though that price is killer but I would grab a modular 520hx, 800w is overkill for that rig.

There was never an "h" in my name. ;) Oddly enough, Jon isn't short for Jonathan. :)

Doh! Sorry. I do that to my boss at work, too.

What IS the Jon short for? Jonas, Jonson, uh, I got nothing else off the top of my sleep-deprived head.

+1 for the BFG ES800, had mine for about 3 weeks now and its great! Modular PSU's are for sissys anyways, real men hide cables! ...but not in the silence of the lambs way!
