Corsair 8GB DDR3 1600 $85 @Newegg w/promo code

Sandy Bridge is specced to not go any higher than 1.57 (+/- 5% of 1.5 )volts due to the internal memory controller.

That is a pretty good deal. I don't think the 'egg ever had a deal like this on DDR2.

+1!

I remember buying 4 gigs of DDR2 for $100, and I felt like they were practically giving memory away. It was crucial memory, and it all eventually failed in the end though.

So you can't OC it or will it not run?

The higher vDimm voltage will just shorten the life of the CPU. Some people have run the higher voltage stuff without any problems but it remains to be seen how long it will last.

You can still overclock the memory but will be limited to the spec voltage if you decide to keep it within spec.Just remember that all those numbers are rated as I had some success undervolting memory.
