Does anyone know what company Corsair switched to when they went from the 620hx to 650hx? I've been doing a little research and it seems like the quality of the 650hx is inferior to the old 620hx. 650hx complaints about cheap sata/mobo connectors and power supply prematurely failing.

I just ordered a 650hx earlier today and I hope I don't get a lemon. :(

I should have done a little more searching before I ordered the Corsair. The Seasonic m12 620watt modular sells for $90. $30 cheaper than the Corsair and probably a better build quality.

Ummm, the Corsair 650HX is just an updated model of the 620HX. Thus it's still a Seasonic. It's pretty much the same as the 620HX except tweaked for a bit more power, better efficiency, and better DC output/ripple control. So if anything, the 650HX is superior than the 620HX in build quality.

Sometimes maybe the plastic in the connectors may be brittle, because the company producing the connectors may have had a bad production run, but I'm betting most of the time with people breaking connectors, it is because they manhandle them. Personally I've never had it happen, even on cheaper PSUs.

The connectors on the 650HX are identical to the 620HX, and even come from the same supplier. The only change made was to increase efficiency and a few other minor tweaks to the design to enhance longevity, thus allowing the longer warranty.

Indeed.

Who is the manufacturer of your PSU?

HX-520, HX-620 – Seasonic
TX-650 – Seasonic
HX-650 – Seasonic

Just installed the 650HX with a Asus 5850 TOP and everything is running quiet and great in a Antec p180.

I had the TX650 in the last PC and it was fab. Well built, whisper quiet.
My latest build is using the Seasonic Gold X-650. I have to say I'm a fan of Seasonic products.
