This might be a really stupid question, but I'll ask anyway. My 8800gt has a 6 pin hole power thing. The PSU has an 8 pin power cable as one of the attached cables. Instead of using the modular 6 pin pci power cable, can I use the 8 pin cable thats attached to the psu with the extra 2 pins sticking off the side? I just want as few cables as I need.

By "attached to the PSU" you mean that 8Pin power cable that cannot be removed from the PSU? If so, they're not compatible. That 8Pin power cable is for the motherboard, not video card.

if it fits, yes. This "8 pin thing" should have 5 black wires (grounds) and 3 yellow wires (12V). Make sure you have the 3 yellow and 3 of the 6 black wires interfacing with the card.

You guys are giving me conflicting answers? Is it for motherboard only or can I use it on my GPU too? I don't have the PSU manual.

Well like I said: "By "attached to the PSU" you mean that 8Pin power cable that cannot be removed from the PSU?"

Or can that 8Pin power cable be removed from the PSU?

We're not giving conflicting answers. You just haven't told us WHICH 8Pin power cable you're talking about. There are a few 8Pin power cables on the Corsair 620HX: one for the video card and one for the motherbaord.

It's the attached one. If it was one of the removable ones it would make no difference using it or not. My incentive is to have less cables.

Yep, looks like the first one. Oh well, guess I'll just have to use that pci cable. My motherboard doesn't have that 8 pin power hole thing though?

Then it doesn't need the 8Pin power cable then. Just tuck that 8Pin power cable somewhere.
