1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
This PC will be for gaming and web browsing.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Budget is as low as I can keep it while still buying good parts.
3) Where do you live?
I live in southern california, specifically orange county.
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. Please be very specific.
I need a new CPU, motherboard, and ram. All other parts I will be reusing.
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
I will be reusing my 8800gt which will be replaced later down the line, and my PSU is a Silverstone ST60F which is 600w, it is the older version though with a 120mm fan.
6) Will you be overclocking?
I do plan on overclocking.
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
I have a 24 inch monitor @ 1920x1200
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
In the next few weeks.
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.
I don't need any fancy features, probably just SLI for the future in case I decide to go that route.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license?
Will be using Windows 7 RC for now.

The one part I know for sure I will be getting is the core i7 920 processor. I haven't built a computer in about two years so I am somewhat out of the loop when it comes to picking a motherboard and ram. Oh and do you folks think my current power supply will suffice? Thanks guys.

Mobo:
If you want 6 ram slots: Gigabyte x58 UD4P
If you don't mind 4 ram slots you can save some cash with the Gigabyte x58 UD3R

RAM:
6 gb (3x2) G.skill 1600 ddr3 On the downside it has gotten $15 more expensive since I last bought it.

CPU:
i7 920 - The 920 is the best price vs performance ratio of the i7 series and overclocks great, regardless of c0 vs d0 stepping.

Speaking of overclocking? If you are planning on going the OC route you will need an aftermarket CPU cooler. Not sure what you already have but HardOCP just gave a -glowing- review of the Cogage TRUE Spirit. Newegg doesn't carry it but other stores do. Haven't bought one myself yet so not sure the best place to get it from.

I recommend this combo:
$558 - Intel Core i7 + Asus P6T mobo + OCZ 6GB DDR3 1600 RAM

Cheaper than RAD's setup but offers the same quality and performance. The Silverstone ST60F will be enough for your new setup depending on what video card you have.

I guarantee Danny knows what he is talking about more than I do.

Microcenter has the i7 920 for $200. Hopefully, it'll still be that price by the time you read this, lol. Local pickup only, though, but you're in OC, so shouldn't be too hard. :p The P6T should be the same price as the egg, so instant gratification if you get it from MC. Site shows both the P6T and UD4P are in stock, so good luck! Oh, they should also pricematch the egg for the RAM, whichever RAM you choose. If not, get the G.Skill from the egg.

This thread: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1435301 says prices are good til today, the 26th, but MC has been offering that loss-leader price for a while, so it should get extended. If you don't want to take the chance, order it online and choose in-store pickup -- if you read this and the price is still $200.

No, the ST60F will not be enough, you'll have to sell it to me. :p j/k. But if you do decide to sell it, PM me. :D Out of curiosity, what case will you be using?

Too bad it doesn't come with a backplate. I'd go for the HDT-S1283V Dark Knight instead. Though you could buy a backplate separately for the true spirit, the dark knight already comes with one.

You're in luck man. If you're on a budget I would get the Core i7 920 at your local Microcenter for $200 in store. There is a Microcenter in Orange County

then, get the ASUS P6T SE + OCZ Gold 6GB combo for $287.98 ($10 MIR on RAM, $15 MIR on Mobo)

@enginurd: I am gonna be reusing my antec p180

The mobo/ram combo that HardwareGuru posted looks pretty good. The only thing I am wondering about is what the difference is between the regular P6T and the P6T SE, i.e. would one give me a better oc etc.

Thanks guys!

You can see the differences here:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...mpareItemList=N82E16813131386,N82E16813131359

In terms of overclocking capability, they should be about the same since they have the same cooling setup.

Since you're in the OC, definitely see if you can swing by Microcenter and pick up the i7 920 for $200. It's an excellent deal!
