Core i7 965 worthless? After D0

Well the core the core i7 920 D0 do clocks better than the Core i7 965 on air at least. I'm sure the 965 has an edge on extreme cooling due to unlocked multis but whoever bought a 965 should be feeling the pain right now. :p.
Whoever plunk the $1000 for that cpu is facing a big dilemma, i see a bunch of 965 on ebay right now :D

I don't see a point to this thread; the 965 certainly isn't worthless. Hopefully you realize that there are those that need/want the absolute greatest performance without overclocking, right?

I don't mean worthless as computer wise cuz i'm sure its a great performer, but with the new D0s hitting the shelfs the 965 becomes a non viable option at least costwise. It'll be pretty hard to find someone who owns a 965 and doesn't OC with unlocked multi but i'm sure there are, but to the OC comunity this chip has become pretty pointless at least at a 1k pricetag.
 
It's not like you can't OC a 965 or the D0 920 is gonna OC 30% better than a 965 or something, whomever plunked down $1000 for a 965 probably A) has the means for it and B) might not care about OC'ing and tweaking, so they're sittin pretty either way.

I'm talking about NOW who is going to buy the left stock over stock of 965s?
 
Or is doing liquid cooling O.C...the unlocked multiplier have it's justification, just not on aircooling.
 
Reson why you see them at ebay now is due to the 975 that will come soon not that they will swap to a locked 920 or anything.
Unlocked mutiplier and be able to use highspeed memory will always be worth the trouble to get a unlocked CPU. Difference is big when you cream out all juice you can from the memory or just use lowspeed (1333 CL9) and are limited to mutch by its multiplier to even use the memory to its full potential. 1600 CL8 vs. 1900 CL8 is like night and day almost, imagine 1333 CL9 vs. 1900 CL8 then or even 2000 CL7.

same can be said for the non-D0 920's, who's going to buy them now? point is, it'll be phased out and eventually a new 965 stepping will come out or it will be replaced by something higher end like a 975. still it doesn't make the 965 worthless, maybe they'll drop down in price and be a little more attractive?
 
Money is usually not a concern for people that buy $1000+ CPUs.
And its not like the 965s can't OC either...
