Core and a bad day

Got a few machines working thru the core unit so far but all seem to be taking ages no matter what the speed of the CPU is. Can anyone give me an estimate of how long this should take (based on a 3 gig CPU)

Run into another problem last night and that is the only box that has finished the core and got another unit done has decided to fall over and not play properly anymore. (should hopefully have it back and running in a few days.

Can you give us some details on what units you're running? In your FAH directory, there is a file called unitinfo.txt which will give the name of the unit you're working on. A general rule of thumb is to give anywhere from 8 to 24+ hours for a unit to be completed.

Also, depending on the CPU you're running, you might want to check the FAQ for the -forceasm switch, which forces the client to use SSE boost present on your CPU. If SSE boost isn't running, it can cause drastic differences in the amount of time a unit can take to process.

this is the info from the current box i am at

WUs can vary a great deal when it comes to completion times... as p[H] said, check your switches to make sure you're getting the most out of your CPU... most of the protiens my PCs get even up taking anywhere from 24-60 hours.....

Keep on Folding!! For the [H]orde!!

If you could post your FAHlog.txt file in a post that would help up see how things are going. According to Stanford's Currently Running Projects page that is a 93 point AMBER protein. That should take less than a day on a 3 gig computer.

Something like this:

I would suggest going to www.em-dc.com and downloading EMIII. This will give you all the info about the protein and after completing a couple of frames, should give you an estimate of how much time it will take to complete the WU and the PPD it is putting out.

Are you running anything else on the system? If you are running any other processor intensive software like games, it will slow down folding since folding gives up CPU cycles to anything else that comes along.

got emiii last night but just after i set it up was when my 1 system went down.

Thanks for the help guys
