Hi, I'm making the switch from an Opteron 175 to a C2D E6400. My question is do you have to install any "special" things in windows like you had to with amd's dual core optimizer?
 
Nope just load the drivers from the motherboard CD, (actually, check the manuf web site for newer ones) one of them will be the Intel .inf chipset driver. Hit windows update and OC like mad.

er well assuming an intel chipset board, Nvidia about the same. No arcane "magic" file or fix is needed.
 
'Grats by the way. I went from my x2 +3800 to this and there's no looking back.
My old rig became my wife's WoW machine and a file/email/web server.
