Just kind've wondering what would you guys say is the best air cooled pre-modded case without having outrageous amounts of noise, or being mesh? Theres so many cases out there, all have similar designs, airflow... but is there one cream of the crop?
 
I would have to say the TJ07 is porbably the best air-cooled case that isn't too loud. Sure the stacker 830 can hold 9 fans but the design of it is completed retarded! I feel like Cooler Master's goal was to fit as many fans as possible without actually thinking of noise or layout. Silverstone's solution on the other hand seems to have some thought put into it. With the uni-body construction and not that many moving parts it should definitely not be that loud.

It really depends on what you're planning on putting in the case... a case that'll be fine for 1 mid-range video card and processor, a single HD and DVD burner isn't going to do as well with 3 cd/dvd drives, 4 HDs, SLI video and dual core. And that's before overclocking.

I'd narrow down the list based on the following criteria... price range, default fan sizes, front door/no door (makes a difference, I think doors are annoying), HD mounting style (parallel/perpendicular to side of case; screws, grommets, clips or rail mounting), ATX/BTX style (convertable?), [non]removable motherboard tray, PS mounted at top of case or bottom...

Add some other things that you might want or not want, then just browse through the forum and look at the cases people have posted about. No-one is going to be able to tell you the "perfect" case, because that's really just a matter of opinion. Once you've decided which of the above criteria is important to you, update your post, and hopefully you'll get a more tailored response.
 
I think TJ07 is odd airflow case. It cant be said as Coolest air case...... :confused:
"Coolest air case" will be stacker 830 , though I think these fans are too much.
 
9 to be exact...thats pre fit fans...that doesnt include the other fans that you put in, or can mod in lol
 
My TJ07 keeps my D 920 (oc'd to 3.2) at 32~34C load / 24~26C idle (depending on ambient) with a zalman 9500.

2 120mm out and 2 92mm intake i believe leads to negative pressure. And there is plenty of ventilation at the bottom half of the case to suck air up from.

Finding a stock case that combines minimal noise and good air-flow is probably going to require some level of modding.

Some things to consider:
- Multiple fans are multiple noise-generators.
- Side-vents and side-ducts make internal fan and drive noises more audible.
- Active (fanned) side-ducts further aggravate the noise problem.
- Side-vents and side-ducts tend to result in poor air-flow over hard drives, resulting in warm drives.

I'd look at a case like the Antec 3000B case, which should provide good airflow with just the single 120mm rear case vent fan. Consider these simple mods for quieter operation and optimized air flow:
- Remove and discard the side-duct.
- Tape over all side-openings.
- Consider removing front metal grill (diagonal cutting plier).
- Consider replacing front filter with loose-mesh 1" fiberglass furnace filter media.
- Vibration-isolate the 120mm rear vent fan.

Thus-modded, internal case air temps (not CPU temps) should be 30C or lower at idle to 32C with CPU stressed with quiet operation and good drive temps - with just a single 120mm rear case-ventilation fan.

I'd avoid multiple fans, side-ducts, side-vents, front intake fan and any case with fans smaller than 80mm - concentrating on optimized front-to-back air flow with a single 120mm rear vent fan.

I like my MGE Quantum (silver model is the ....comes with a 7 fan monitor, 5 fans already in case, and they all purr as quiet as a walnut hitting the floor (no pins in this house to drop....just walnuts :p)

replace front 120mm fan with a higher speed fan. also, get the one with the mesh instead of the window, except if you are going to put a suckhole on the window somewhere. mesh allows decent ventilation on the vid card/chipset/cpu area. pretty cool, extremely quiet case. stock fans turn at less than 1000 rpm. my machine is almost silent now except when the vid cards get hot and crank up the fans, or when i turn up the vantec tornado (helicopter engine) on my xp90.
 
I'm in not in the search for a case, I was just wondering what the coolest case is.. not even thinking about looks. (doesn't have to be quiet, just not freakishly loud)
