I'm planning on buying either one of these Heatsinks and lapping them once I get them. It will be paired with an E6600, and am looking for a moderate to nice OC on it. Taking price into consideration as well as cooling performance, which would be the way to go?

The Eclipse which is $5 AR http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103016

Or the GeminII which is $15 AR + $13 for two Yate Loon 120mm fans

The Eclipse thing is junk.. I looked at a few reviews of it when it came out. And I looked at it at CompUSA.... the fan is non-replaceable and doesn't blow enough air to cool down the heat put out by a birthday candle.

The Gemeni-II actually looks like a real nice unit. 6 heat pipes that aren't all bunched together.. lots of thin fins. Drool.. space for 2 120mm fans :-D

Just measure and make sure it will fit.... that sucker takes up a lot of space.

I'd say the Gemini would be a better cooler paired with two fans than the eclipse.

I went for the $15 GeminII. I think my Tower112 - though 100% copper - may not be enough for the X3210. Bonus: the Tower112 can now go on my server in place of the stock X3210 cooler.

I used both with a E6600. Both cooling nice, but take the gemin your Mobo getting cooler with two fans on it.

I had the little brother of the tower 112 (the aluminum finned version) back in the Socket A days... good cooler with two fans.. but I doubt it could handle newer CPUs near as well as it did back in the day.

I actually still have it.. modded the mounting bracket by welding the bolts to it... fixed the super hard to get tight issue.

I also changed out the metal nuts for slightly undersized plastic wing nuts. Never had another issue with it coming loose or moving around. Temps lowered quite a bit also.

I wish these companies would actually try stuff to fix obvious issues before they ship the product.

Well, I've swapped to GeminII in place of the Tower112, with 2x120mm Rexus fans (vs. 1x92mm Silverstone on the Tt).

The results... not inspiring.

It still idles around 50*C (Tt could get it a few deg cooler), and with all 4x120mm fans on high it crept over 75*C w/Orthos & TAT. I'm thinking about going back to the Tower112....

Looking at reviews from a while back, the Tower112 ranks around the Hyper6+, the Vanessa L-type, and a low speed Ninja or CNPS9500LED. Anyone have reviews of those vs. the GeminII?

Hi, I can't believe that.
I got two systems both E6600 with the Gemin, oc. 3.3Ghz.
Temps with Orthos/Prime max 51° idle low 30°
Or do you use a high Vcore?
Artic Silver ?

I bought the gemini. I been on hiatus for a few weeks after I sold my whole rig, aside from e6600, corsair 620 and hpw2207. So I wanted a somewhat more budget rig coming from a 8800gtx and thermalright ultra 120 extrme which was a POS BTW. I ended up with whats in my sig lol, got some sweet deals what can I say !

So I bought this HS and I'll tell ya one thing, having bought and paid for and used the tuniq tower (fav HS ever), the crappy mount overrated and overpriced ultra 120 extreme, and the scythe infinity (crappiest mount in mount history) this HS is the best I ever owned, bang for the buck ! It only runs a couple degrees warmer than the HS's mentioned, I got a couple low speed yates on it. I paid $20 for mine now its $15.....

The only HS i dont regret buying is the tuniq tower, the mount was PERFECT on the many mobos I put it on, It cooled AWESOME, was quiet and looked killer. The other 2 are junk and overrated/overpriced.

This HS would be awesome even at $30 shipped but after that I would buy a tuniq tower. Just my 2 cents.

Arctic Ceramique on everything. Mid-high 70*Fs ambient.

The Tower112 was lapped, the GeminII was untouched.

Both are measured via TAT/CoreTemp/CT plugin-MBM on my X3210 @ 2.6GHz with no Vcore changes.

Finding more reviews, and basically these two coolers are just neck-in-neck, so no reason to swap back, I guess. It would simplify my case wiring though. We'll see - I got some reports to finish for work, so I'll have to wait. Ordered some Yates to replace my 2x120mm case fans, so I should be able to run them faster w/less noise.
