convertig .MTS file format?

I have been looking all day.. I need to convert this to something I can work with

I was lead to a program called Prism. It pixelated the heck out of the photo and stepped back the video speed.. really wierd.

Also looking for something to help me crisp up the audio. take out some of the static etc. and boost certain parts?

Any help would be great, I'll keep looking But I've tried a buncha programs to no avail.

And Win Movie maker wont open these files. WMP will however

I atually found TMPG will do the encoding. Sadly I went and purchased it. but so far worth the cost.

If you get the demo of premiere pro off Adobes website it comes with a separate media encoder program, whichyou can use even after the 30 day trial. It converts almost everything to almost everything.
