It seems that way because I have to counter your "But AMD this.... But AMD that..... My dad is better then your dad, and I'll tell you why...." Then add you constant whine of Intel isn't this or Intel will fall and yada yada.

Why so much Intel hate? Did they personally rape you or somebody you know?

Yes.....yes they did. And they made my butt pucker for quite some time

Anyways if half of the speculation is true, the boys at Dresden have a lot of work to do.
After the price cuts, I may pick up an x2 or opty or 2 on the cheap. No reason to dump a ton of money on a whole new platform when I have several good mobos and plenty of good ddr ram already paid for. Just oc the hell out of the dual core and wait it out for another year.

who gives a fack about brands. If you follow brands in tech you are sheep. Just go with what is best for you.

I am excited about the Conroe AND the k8l. Probably will have both.

HighTest's post got me thinking.

I think AMD's response to Conroe will be released near Vista's launch. This makes perfect sence. Intel wasn't happy that Vista got delayed and was hoping Conroe would somewhat coincide with Vista's launch. Now, if I was AMD, I would launch desktop K8L's when Vista launches to cross-market it was designed for Windows Vista or some clever marketing gimmick.

I couldn't have stated it better myself. Intel got screwed by Microsoft and lost a huge marketing opportunity, AMD is no doubt very happy to see Vista delayed as this plays directly into their hands. Granted, there is no certainty that AMD's next generation will outperform the conroe but based on past history the chance stands good.

Honestly if you ask me Intel was very nïave to believe Vista would be released on time. That would be, umm, the first time Microsoft ever released an OS on time? Now AMD will have the newest hardware on the market as people upgrade for Vista, whereas Intel will have the same a staid and dated core.

Yeah, but all the tech sites are whoring themselves for Conroe right now.

Oooooh, Conroe this, Conroe that. I find it especially irritating that they compare Conroe to am2 cpus as if it were apt. Sure comparison between different generations is needed and what else is there to reference? However, I see so much wording as if am2 is the generation that is going to compete with Conroe.

I'd like to know where you got that impression from me. I never once said anything bad about Intel I actually like them. But I also Like AMD too. I think Intel has some major shortcomings in there technology, but overall they are sound.

I think Intel has some kick ass ethernet controllers. And a decent if buggy chipset. Overall the processors are solid, if a litle sluggish.

AMD also has there share of shortcomings as well. It seems to me that you are too quick to pull the trigger in pointing them out. Half the tiem, you try to make something sound bad even when it isnt. And you exxagerate to make your points.

You dont give credit where it is due, and you supply links to data that just simply doesnt apply. And when somebody else does you critisize them for it. Then respond with more data that dont mean a thing.

For example. When I posted that Arestechnica link in another thread. I posted it to share it in this forum, becouse it was a discussion of the ati-amd merger, but you twisted it around, and pointed out the authors bias, and tryed to pin it on me. I think that is low.

There is a word to describe your behavior, but I think I'll keep it a secret for now.

How can anyone be a fan of a company? Be fans of their products, but it is never a loyalty thing. Capitalism doesn't have your best interests in mind; it has your pocket book in its sights.

Myself, I don't care about Conroe one little bit. A good intel product is a good opportunity for AMD to step up again. If AMD fails to step up and deliver, they deserve whatever happens to them. If intel blows what looks like a promising performance lead (which they seem to enjoy doing), they will deserve whatever happens to them.

I'm happy with my AMD processor, and Conroe won't change that.

easy. i'm a fan of amd, just like i'm a fan of say.. volvo, or craftsman ;)

that's also a somewhat ignorant statement. the entire world isn't capitalist :p

65nm (Rev. G) will bring AMD from 3 decoders to 4. Should definately improve their performance per clock.
No, it's still 3 decoders.

Hello? What world are you living in ? What exactly from AMD will compete with Conroe in the next year if not AM2 X2s ??

You can be described by an infinity of words , but since I may get a warning for it , I think I'll keep a few examples secret for now.

That's cool but that changes little if not anything. They're still talking about better transistors for K8s. Intel's been bragging about Terahertz and Tri gate for how long?

indeed, but isn't that what you'd expect from the market leader? With a Net Income of USD 8 Billion in 2005, compared to 165 Million for AMD, is it surprising that Intel has more money to spend on R&D? It would appear more impressive that the underdog, AMD, is able to stay in the race, they even had a lead!

Duby if you really liked Intel you wouldn't do fud like this. A quote from you !

I think Intel has some kick ass ethernet controllers. And a decent if buggy chipset. Overall the processors are solid, if a litle sluggish.

Have you ever used an Intel processor. Their chipsets are the best there are and they are not sluggish . Why write such fud . Its oK that your an AMD Fan . But you don't need to say things about Intel that are untrue. In stead talk about the merits of the AMD system . I got to ask you this . How old are you ? You must be very young.

Who are you to claim what he is and is not thinking? How can you possibly make such a claim? Do you just choose to ignore the words that you don't like, or do you have a problem reading english? I have yo ask you this: How old are you? You must be very young.

Most likely he doesn't think too much and it seems that neither do his supporters ... ;)

Ah well this seems like a very productive conversation.

I just want to say this we all have our choices for buying and sticking with either product. The great thing about this world is how grossly independent our minds can be. With every person saying your wrong there will be an equal amount of people saying your right. Every peson that says somethings evil there will be someone that says it's good. There will always be wars because of difference of opinions. So there is no point is debating this issue because there will always be people against your choice. To try and convince someone different is only pointless because there will always be someone to oppose you. Are they stupid? No they are just viewing things from a different perspective. So keep fighting. Your not gaining any ground your not losing any either. All your doing is wasting your good time on something so trivial when it can be used to take over the world so your opinion is the only opinion everyone is allowed to have :).

Well, if you guys want to bash me, i guess you can....

But, I just want to be clear that I never had anything bad to say about Intel. The only thing I have attempted to do is reply with hard facts. When I post a statement it is generally backable.....

As always you don't get the point. Do you ever understand what you read?

Dubby said: "I think ...".

There is no way you or anyone else is going to be able to prove dubby's post wrong, because dubby's only claim is that he thinks something. For you to disprove it, you must prove that dubby is thinking something other that what he says he is thinking. Good luck with that.

You are a selective reader. You read what you want and you ignore the rest. That is why you make posts like: "But you don't need to say things about Intel that are untrue." Dubby never said anything untrue about Intel. Dubby only made a comment about himself and what he thinks. You just ignored the "I think" because it is easier to flame him that way. Just like savantu ignored my "if" about twenty times in another thread.

You two are nothing but trolls, ignoring whatever parts of a post prove you wrong, flaming people for things they didn't even say, and bashing AMD every single chance you get. Go back home to the Intel section, that is where you trolls belong.

Dewd, you can't call some guys a opinion like those you linked to Facts, that's your first problem.

Again I will go OT . I still don't understand. HE said he THINKS Intels Chipsets are Buggy AND HE thinks the processors are sluggish . Intel chipsets are the Best you can get. I think. I think its been years since any processors have been sluggish.

You can twist and turn what he said around all you want but he still declared a STATEMENT.

If I'm the Intel Fan YOU claim I'am, then you're just the Oposite, an AMD one. I've linked you to tons of Info you just seem to blow off time and time again or suffer short term memory loss with. Statements like "I think Intel has some kick ass ethernet controllers. And a decent if buggy chipset. Overall the processors are solid, if a litle sluggish." Make posting to you seem like a waste time.

Alright, let's have a grammar lesson shall we?

Here is dubby's sentence; we will consider it during this lesson:
"I think Intel has some kick ass ethernet controllers and a decent if buggy chipset; overall the processors are solid, if a little sluggish."

What is the primary verb in the sentence?
Answer: "think".

So, to disprove dubby's statement you would need to prove that the subject of the sentence ("I") does not "think" the object of the sentence ("Intel has some kick ass ethernet controllers and a decent if buggy chipset..."). Seeing as you would never be able to prove what dubby thinks or does not think, you can never disprove dubby's statement.

Lesson over.

----

If you would like to claim that dubby thinks something that isn't true, be my guest. But to say that dubby made any claim besides a declaration of thought is totally incorrect, and you did just that: "But you don't need to say things about Intel that are untrue."

I suppose that this is just a subtle distinction that you cannot wrap your head around. That's ok. Most people don't have the ability to think abstractly either; you are not alone. These sorts of things are typically what separate the scientists and academics from the people who couldn't care less about precise, accurate language.

My experiences must be different then yours. I still remember all the recalls.... And I can remember when I was put in the situation where the product I had was recalled....

I can remember all the problems I had with my old celeron box. Not to mention that I work with dell products akll day just about everyday.... You want to talk about buggy, and unstable? I can talk to you about it.....

The current workstations we use, have an Intel motherboard, with an Intel chipset, and an Intel processor..... When we ordered them, we got 50... That was about 4 months ago. So far we have had to replace about 15 motherboards, and about 20 powersupplies.... Ummm also we went through about ten harddrives....

The time before this last upgrade wqe went with Athlon64 based HP's, using a tyan board, and a nvidia chipset, and we bought 60 of htem... That was about a year ago.... And so far I dont think we have had a single hardware issue....

Hey I go on experience. I been in the IT field for almost ten years now. I've configured thousands of workstations, and I have had more problems with Intel products then AMD. Especially dell products.... If you dont like what I have to say, then do your usual and ignore it.

I've only been playing with computers since my Commie64 in 1983. I've only been building since 1994 and doing upgrades since 1992, big deal. My propblems with VIA, SIS, nVidia have been tons more than any Intel Chipset=P It's not that I don't like what you say, I just don't BELIEVE what you say.

Let's do a poll in each forum, ask which chipset has each voter had more problems with?
