Conroe Stability?

Haven't read too much about it...

Conroe/Woodcrest stability....

Is it as rock solid as past intel procs? I'd hope so, but I remember seeing the odd postings abt the government having Woodcrest problems, and also a few forum posts about crashing Conroe systems.

To the [H] editors, and anyone else that uses a Conroe/Woodcrest... how is the stability? Is it really good? less so?
 
How stable are you talking? SuperPi 32M? Prime95 stable? How long?
 
Stability really has little to do with the processor, and more to do with the components around it. That being said.... Conroe on an Intel board with a good PS runs perfect. Mine runs like a champ.... and if you notice, most who are having issues are overclocking and/or using shitty boards.
 
ahh, wells, i mean conroe + any intel MB.

So, if someone got a good power supply, an intel mb, and a conroe CPU, it will be as rock solid as any past intel stuff?
 
I dont think the stability has ever been a problem with a Intel CPU running on an Intel chipset.
I have never had a problem running stock clocks on an Intel platform and so far my X6800 has not had any problems either......well that is untill I started fukin with it. So far its stable @ 1.45V . Its weird, but it doesnt react very well to small voltage adjustments between 1.3V and 1.4V, but it also hits 310FSB on stock voltage which will keep your temps down. After I got up to 1.45V I was able to get another 15MHZ on the FSB so far. I will push it a bit more tonight. You are pretty much guaranteed 300FSB on stock cooling and voltage.

But I guess anything could happen judging by your sig. :D
 
lol, i fried it using waaay too high voltages OC'ing my old prescott. I wasn't satisfied with the 4.2ghz i was getting and wanted even more.... then i learned my lesson the hard way

It goes a bit farther than that though. It's not just the chipset, it's the build of the board as well. While Asus, Abit, ect can and sometimes make good boards... Intel is always the leader when it comes to stability. If you are not into overclocking much and stability is key.... I ALWAYS recommend an Intel built board. My .02
 
At this point I would say it's too soon to tell. I mean if you know someone that has run a Conroe 24x7 for the last eight months maybe you can ask them. Otherwise we probably have to wait a bit.
