Conroe OC problems

Ok I am so fed up of resetting my CMOS its not even funny... I keep trying to OC my E6400 but I am not having much sucess. Part of this stems to the lack of information about OC the Conroe. So I have a couple of questions.

Can anyone link me to some good Conroe OC guides?

Do you HAVE to take out the battery out of the motherboard to reset CMOS (I have a P5B deluxe) or can you just change the jumper? The reason I ask this is because in order for me to get to the battery I have to keep taking out my X1900XT. Which is quite heavy and expensive so I would rather not touch it...

When I overclock do I have to touch the RAM settings? Is it ok to leave them as defaults or is this going to hinder my ability to OC?

Thank You. Tips would be appreciated. I have not been able to go higher than 2.4 GHZ. Thus far..

You could not be more wrong in regards to "information" on O/C'ing the Conroe.

There is an absolutely vast amount of information out there. Here as well as other places.

While someone may come along and help you, the best bet is to get out there and dig around and educate yourself. I promise you, you will be overclocking before you know it.

I have been scouring the forums for a long long time... What you get from this is bits and pieces... I am actually getting pissed enough to write a guide for it myself.

However I think I am just frustrated. Because my P5B has so many bugs. For example sometimes it starts booting and then stops. Only to restart and boot just fine. This is just one example... I should have gotten a 975X board...

I'm kinda thinking the same thing. In fact I probably would have if the Asus P5W DH was in stock anywhere, but I had my e6600 on the way and I was too impatient to wait for the Asus 975.

Here's my latest. I've been testing all kinds of different ram setting to see if I can tweak to a higher overclock. I was setting different FSB's, trying different timings, testing them with MemSet to see what worked where, etc...

Anyway, so I put the ram settings back to Auto again at 305 FSB, ratio =2..... and this is what I get:
cas=wtf.jpg

And it randomly shows those timings even when its not on Auto. Maybe its always done that, but I just noticed it tonight b/c I've been testing all these things out.

BTW, xtremesystems forums has some of the best information on overclocking.
less noob OC'rs & more hard core (SMARTZEZ) overclockers.

Yeah I agree XtremeSystems are a good resource.

I also FOUND a Core 2 Duo overclocking guide

Right now I am running a 333mhz FSB. So far so good (half way done with 3dmark). The biggest problem seems to be the fact that there is a wall on the P5B Deluxe of around 350mhz where the board gets finnicky and unstable. I have honestly heard every possible sequence of beeps today coming from my computer. At one point Windows XP thought that I had a "non genuine copy" after which it crashed and I never saw that message ever again.

Of course all of this supposedly can be fixed by using the 502 BIOS. I will try to downgrade as soon as I find my USB drive.
