Update: This issue resurfaced again. It happened when it was overclocked and when I went into the bios setup this time it worked for about 10 seconds then it slowed way down to a halt. Could this be a power issue? I checked the cpu heatsink and it is screwed in properly and my temps are lower than usual. To get past that bios issue I ran into the bios as quick as i could and changed it to stock and it booted fine. The weird thing is I shut it down then rebooted with the overclock and it is still working. I have no dam clue whatsoever the problem could be. Ambient in the room is about 70 F. My only guess is motherboard or power supply but still asks the question of why will it start up currently but just not after a night's rest.

Main Issue:

For some reason I started up my computer today and it will not post. It will show the motherboard screen then the monitor will lose display for a second then go back to the motherboard screen. I have tried taking the motherboard battery out to reset and it still goes back to the same issue. Looked around google for answers but could not find anything.

I don't think it is the video card as it will show on the monitor. My only guess is the cpu or the motherboard. The motherboard light's all go on. It occurred yesterday once then I shut off the power to it for a minute and restarted it with higher dram voltage and it worked. Lost as to what to do.

The memory voltage may be the problem. If you have high performance memory installed that requires more than 1.8V (startup default after a cmos clear) the machine will fail every time it tries to start up. Try booting with just one stick and if you can get into the bios set the memory voltage to 2.0 volts or the max for your exact memory from the manuf web site..

If you have a stick of plain jane memory you can try using that to boot and get into the bios to set the memory voltage.

Worth a try anyway.

This is my memory here:

It isn't high performance memory i think. I had it set at 2.0V. I can't even get into the bios setup is the problem. I have tried using 1 stick or the other and switching up the slots but it just won't let me. It will show the motherboard screen and I will be spamming del but it won't even let me get into the bios setup.

was messing around with it and found a screw loose on the cpu cooler which attached the mount. My guess is the heatsink was mounted properly and it overheated before i could open the bios settings. Hopefully I didn't mess up my cpu. Glad it was not something more serious.

EDIT: reapplied paste and it seems to be running okay. Thanks anyways Bill. I appreciate the help.

Issue came up again. Edited initial post for more details. Stock clock seems to be working.
