Ok so I have an e1200. Ive overclocked it succesfully stable to 2.9. I know that it pulls 65 watts. I also know that I'm about to put a 95 watt cpu in my system.

System consist of
antec 300
e1200
ga7p3vms2h motherboard (micro atx)
4 gb of gskill ddr2 800
single cavier blue
2 dvd burners
5 led lit 120 mm fans
gts250

Powerd by a antec earthwatts 380watt

I'm at 300 watts on average with everything maxed. been running this setup about a year.

I'm replacing my celly with a q9550. Do you think that my system will pull about the same amount of watts with this 95 watt cpu as with my 65 watt stock celeron. I have it overclocked to 2.4 from 1.6 Not sure how much it was pulling when i oced it.

Does anybody have any idea about how many watts im pulling at 2.4?

I'm not finding anything on your motherboard. Perhaps take another look at the model # and report back.

Nope. The Q9550 has more cores and has a higher TDP to begin with. So at the very least, it's gonna be a full 30W more than what your system is pulling now.

With that said, if your 300W pull is right, it wouldn't be too much of a good idea to use that Q9550 with that PSU. Assuming that all of that 300W pull if from the +12V rail, the Q9550 will add at least another 30W draw from that rail. The +12V rail on the EA380 is rated at 324W. Yes it's only 6W but it still exceeds the rating. So the PSU and therefore the system will just shutdown when at full load.

That's of course assuming that your 300W figure is right and all of it is on the +12V rail.

Not enough info to calculate the CPU wattage you're currently using. So, check out this page:
http://www.heatsink-guide.com/calcpower.htm

A GTS250 system with an i7 pulls around 250W at full load, so your 300W figure may be close. Try the EA380 and see if it works AT STOCK SPEEDS with the Q9550. I think it would work fine. However, if you want to OC, you'll definitely want at least a 500W PSU, like the EA500 or better (Corsair VX550, EA650, TP-550, etc).

Yeah I will upgrade my psu before i oc anything. I was just curious to know if the diffrence between 1.6ghz celly (65 watts stock) when running at 2.9 (say it pulled another 30 watts)...

Would that be equal to the 95 watt cpu or was there more to it and if not then i think I will be fine.

I'm going to get the 750txPSU i think later down the road.
But If my systems running fine now with the oc celly I don't see a problem swapping them out although I won't go to long as i know its limits.... thats a damn strong psu though.
I just wanted a couple of opinions. Is the 750tx still a good value now, I know its good but was wondering whats the best (cheapest of same quality now).

This is my motherboard.
GA-73PVM-S2H

Its My weakest link now... any recomendations on a good 775 board that has raid p45 dual channel ,decent onboard sound?

More to it than that. Such an OC doesn't dramatically use that much more power.

Whether or not the 750TX is a good value depends on whether or not the Antec Truepower New 750 will be about$115 around the time. If $115 and below, then tha 750TX is not a good value considering the Truepower New 750's better quality. But if the Truepower New 750 costs more than $115, then the 750TX is still a good value. That's assuming of course the 750TX is $110 around the time you start buying.

The Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P or the Asus P5Q Pro Turbo are good motherboard choices.

i read this four times before it made sense
basically what I got from it:

the 750TX is a good value iff its cheaper than the TruePower New 750W (yes the two f's are intentional)

The Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P or the Asus P5Q Pro Turbo are good motherboard choices.

I've heard more positive reports about Gigabyte and onboard audio than Asus (drivers and lack of hiss, in that order), but the P5Q is a decent board

and I'd agree with eng, a 500W PSU is a decent choice across the board

I think it would have been less keystrokes to type it out...

if and only if

yup... :p
