I just bought a Crucial M4 64gb SSD. It will run maybe 20 minutes then hard lock. I just updated to the latest firmware and it still is having issues. Does anyone have any ideas what this could be? I also updated windows 7...


Asus M4A88T-V EVO USB 3 motherboard
AMD Athlon II x4 Processor
8gb ram
Crucial 64gb M4 SSD
Radeon 6770 video card
 
Now that i think about it, the ssd was working great for a week or two with no issues. Not sure what happened. Maybe its not caused by the ssd? The radeon 6770 is newer too btw.
 
If everything was fine before the SSD's firmware upgrade, then the problem probably lies with the firmware upgrade.

How recently did you upgrade it?
 
Was it a brand new M4? Are you running AHCI mode? Tried updating the motherboard drivers?

Brand new m4. I didnt try updating the mobo drivers yet. I will that tonight along with vid card drivers.
 
Flash BIOS, AHCI mode, reinstall windows. Download latest motherboard chipset drivers and video drivers.
 
Switching to IDE to AHCI mode will cause your OS not to boot, unless you install the AHCI drivers prior or perform some sort of AHCI registry hack. So it's best to start over cleanly. I would do what Cmustang suggested.
 
If you have the manual, go to page 2-10.

Under 2.3.3. - That will tell you where to enable AHCI mode.

I couldn't adjust each SATA port individually. It only gave me an option to do 1-4 and 5-6. Anyways I set it to AHCI and also updated my Radeon's drivers. I haven't had any issues so far today.. I will report back in a few days. Thanks everyone.
